New Local - Not in Industry - Money the only way to make club contacts?

Just moved here recently. How do you get "in" without actually being in the industry. What I mean is, how the heck do you meet a bunch of high ups in the club scene? Is money pretty much the only factor and/or what you can do for them in terms of your current job? Just curious.

Take other cities for example: you know door guys because you went to school with them, through a friend of a friend, etc. Those relationships are/were mostly built through high school/college. In Vegas I'm sure it's different. Thanks.

i would have to say yes. otherwise, why would they want to be your contact? if theres nothing in it for them (and this would apply to any nightlife person in any city), why would they want to be your "hookup". everything comes at a price and if you have something to offer ($) then they would obviously return the favor with something they have to offer

Or otherwise just start going out to clubs and become a regular person, pretty soon the bouncers and hosts and what not will start to notice you if your always at industry nights, or after partying with them. Its usually pretty easy to see the hosts at xs and marquee at the very end of the night going nuts all at one table. Or just start bringing really hot girls to the clubs when you go out and get your name out that way.

All options really work. Become a regular face people always see and talk to the staff each day/night. Eventually they'll start to recognize and remember you and just let you in. If you have a similar hookup to offer an industry person in trade they're generally more then happy to take care of you consistently. (ex. I have people that send me people consistently for the club, a guy that works at a clothing store I like, someone who gets discounted shows/dinners, etc.) As long as you can help with something the other person enjoys or something that helps them out, it's just like any other job and they're more then happy to take care of you as well in return.

Ultimately comes down to what you are wanting to get out of it. If you are looking to get in places easier, just go there often and make a point to talk to the doormen and hosts. If you are looking for friendships, most people in nightlife know each other from working in the industry, otherwise, being a regular is absolutely the way to go. Party with everyone, take shots with them, suffer the hangovers with them, and even eventually do things outside of nightlife with them.

I have to imagine that it is just like any other city. If you make friends with people in the "industry" you'll probably have a hook up. I'm not saying that you should look for a wingman based on the fact that they work at a club, but just be social. Join a basketball team, softball team, running group, whatever you are into. Go to a local sports bar (ie - Not on the Strip). Chances are you'll make friends with like-minded people.
Sounds like you moved to Vegas with a job. What about your co-workers? (Not that you want be known right away as "that crazy f'er who just started working here. He wants to go out and party all the time).
