  • Host Shopping?

If you are planning a trip to Vegas and don't have any "hookups" from previous trips, do you check with several hosts for the same club?
I have been quoted 2 different prices (one from a contact on here and one from a contact that a buddy sent me).
There seems to be a significant price difference.
Do you check with several hosts for the same venue? (Assuming you don't have a prior relationship).

Because I was using hosts at multiple clubs, I asked them about the quotes I got from other clubs.

I also explained to the hosts that the more I saved (ie going from $400/bottle to $400 for b1g1 or my $1500 min included an extra couple of bottles) meant more money I could tip them.

I think hosts don't like it but as a consumer I think you should shop around (although I'd probably at most just check 1 other host there). just make sure you're not like giving the first host the impression you're already booking with him.

Also, make sure you're comparing apples to apples on the quotes.

Shop around, but have an idea of what you should pay too. Some host quote really low to get your business, but then you get to the door and find out your min has been raised.

I was less concerned with getting the "best deal" and more concerned with making sure I was working with a host that could come through for me and help ensure the table location I wanted. I think in general, a good deal on bottle service doesn't necessarily maximize the experience.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I used a host last month on a last minute (i.e. 12am) run to Marquee who I had been in contact with over the past couple of months for my trip in May. He was really cool and honest.

Sent him an email asking for May table prices since the dj list came out, and he gave me a quote that seemed about right. He specifically said, without me asking, that I could get a lower quote from somebody else, but he guarantees a seat in a good location and that the price won't change. I believe him. Just take that lower quote with a grain of salt...go with reputation over price.

I had this happen to me once. It sucked really bad. You are basically held hostage. Your whole crew is standing there waiting to get in, and you either (a) agree to the hiked minimum or (b) walk away.

You know you aren't going to leave at that point, so you bite the bullet and pay.

I much prefer to deal with someone who is honest and upfront. If I am gonna pay through the nose, I wanna know ahead of time so I can be prepared.

It sucks that this happened to you, ive heard it happens often in vegas; especially when people book with a promoter or a low level host. All of the host that Jack and other members recommened here are most likely Senior host, dealing with a Senior host gives you a better chance on having a guarantee table compare to booking with a guy from the street. Just keep in mind that things do happen last minute and someone might pay more for the same table that you had booked and they will get it since they r willing to spend more. Shit does happen but using a Senior host will eliminate those chances a bit.

It was a senior host whose name is often recommended on this site. It was 3-4 years ago, so I wouldn't feel comfortable throwing them under the bus at this point, as there may have been some unforeseen circumstances I wasn't aware of. Howevever, I certainly won't be using that host again.

This has happened to me too with different hosts. Both hosts weren't "senior" at the time. One was a dick about it and the other one was apologetic. Suffice to say, it's been a while since I've dealt with the dick.

I hate when people wont say who it is. Thats what this forum is all about. If everyone holds back on the negative, well never get honest feedback on host. How do you know that the situation hasnt been happening over and over, but no one is willing to step up and post about it?

Myself, I'm wary of posting names on forums publicly because of possible repercussions. I find it uncomfortable going to a club that I know my friends like to frequent and have to see a host that I don't like dealing with that recognizes me (it's true in my case). In the case of hosts, I look at this way:

From what I gather from reading on this forum, many people "cold contact" a host when trying to get a guest list or book a table either through text, call or email. I'm guessing most people contact the names suggested on here. In this way, there is not much in terms of an initial face-to-face meeting.

Most of the hosts I've met (90% of them), I've personally met through other hosts. However, I have also contacted hosts recommended through Jack Colton if I hadn't had the chance to get a host I've personally dealt with before.

I would rather deal with the host that I had a problem with or talk to the host who recommended that person to me. Almost always, I've gotten a resolution from it. I try to give a host the benefit of the doubt.

Well if you're not comfortable posting here on this thread can you pm me the name? I would like to know who it is so I can be alert if I have to deal with them but I agree with dnix, if the host gave bad service I would think we are all adult enough to not take it personal and keep it on a professional level.

Yeah, I have no problem with that. My sorta issue is that I don't want my name dragged into something like "Oh, I read/heard from such and such forum you had problems with me? Why didn't you come to me first instead of putting it online?" While it may not be likely, I still don't want the headache of that hanging on my head. Call it paranoia, but that's just how I feel.
