  • 30th Birthday - First timer.

This is kind of an all in one thread for a few questions really but here goes.

I'm planning on going to Vegas May 1st to the 5th (So Tuesday to Saturday) Going with my roommate (female) and myself (male) and was wondering how hard it would be to get into clubs on say tues wed thurs fri?

Also have not booked a hotel yet as I'm not sure what I want I was thinking Bellagio first then thought go cheap at strat then was like no first time I want to be on strip so was thinking Aria cause I like all the smart toys ! lol But not sure what to book just yet and I'd have no problem *sandwiching* $50 if it would lead to a good chance of an upgrade.

Also plan on doing Grand Canyon probably by chopper. Also would like to see one or two shows and dinner is going to be like 5-7pm. Basically plan to be busy like every day lol.

So yea not sure where to book any suggestions?
And the question about getting into the clubs on those days.. thanks !

I can't offer much but definetly take the chopper to the Grand Canyon.
We lost a whole day when the 3.5 hour drive to the Grand Canyon turned into 7 thanks to some bummy GPS and poor signposting
Plus I can only guess the views flying in would be amazing. Mind you, getting lost in backwater Arizona did at least provide quite the experience, I got to see a little of route 66 and a backroad entry to the canyon that most wouldn't have driven down, even if I could hear the banjo's from deliverance warming up as the gas gague wound down.
That's no lie, we had to by gas off the on-sight mechanics at the Garnd Canyon or else we wouldn't have made it back to Vegas!

So yea, that's a rather long post just to say, don't drive there!
Previous trip: June 30 - July 7, 2011. Stayed at the Palazzo & PH Towers.
    Returning: Oct 31 - Nov 2, 2014.

wow, must have been partying early if you couldnt find the Grand Canyon without a GPS

The clubs are relatively easy to get into -- just read through the threads and contact the club hosts. For your hotel, dont go super cheap like the Stratosphere -- you want to be closer to the other casinos. Harrah's will be your best bet for saving money, but check the specials for MGM and the Mirage. They have nice pools for when you dont want to hit a pool party.

Price for the hotel isn't all that bad was looking at basically $1000 pp. that seems to be right around the 5 star ones.

Just from what I was reading it seemed clubs be hard to get into but I guess that would be more true if you went with like 3 or 4 of your guy friends ? Then it is with myself and 1 female I take it ?

LOL at the Grand canyon story I was thinking of a tour either way either them driving or doing the heli but I think Heli would be awesome views flying through the canyon great for pics !

Edit: Also was planning on booking plane + hotel through a site like expedia.ca etc.

You can find a good 4-star for $500. Not saying not to splurg, I just wouldnt go with the Stratosphere. I've gone to clubs as 2 guys without any problem -- just might have to go early, wait, or pay a little extra. Contact the hosts and ask them what they can do for you.

You can get a good hotel closer to the action for a good price. If you are looking to be near the North end of the Strip, or the new Four Corners as I like to call it. Look at Treasure Island or the Mirage. Honestly $1k pp is a bit much for a mid week stay unless your getting a suite.

Getting into clubs won't be an issue if you get there early, but you do want to plan a bit so the you know which clubs are actually open.

Well the $1000 includes flight. Which is like $1000 in its self (500 pp)

I don't mind 4 or 5 star but def want to be on the strip like Bellagio area.

Ok in that case the price makes sense. Was that the price for staying at Bellagio?

You should be able to find a good hotel in that area for slightly cheaper. The Mirage, Paris, Treasure Island and possibly the Venetian/Palazzo might come in under that price.

Mirage was like 787. pp Ven/pal i think was closer to 900ish. I've always kind of gone with nice hotels but then I don't plan to be in it very often since I plan on going out every night and during the day so much to do lol. Basically its used to change and occasionally sleep lol

All of those are nice hotels. The Mirage savings might cover that Grand Canyon trip though.

Lol, I can't quite remember what went wrong but I think the real issue was actually having two bad ones (two car convoy, both lost as hell from the moment we left the Hoover Dam)

We would have been better off not relying on them, in hindsight

That is true the difference would pay for Grand Canyon or a show or whatever really.

Anyone know of a club that plays like hmm Rock? instead of Top 40 dance electric etc? lol
