I was just about to finalize our Bottle Service plans at 1OAK for Friday May 18th, but I'm still hearing both negative and positive reviews of this place (sly mentioned that the place was "ghetto" on Tuesday). So what's the deal with this place on Fridays? What kind of crowd can we expect? We love going to places that play good music (open format - Top 40/House/Hip Hop) with pretty women!

I was kicking around the idea of 1OAK as a Friday option next week until I found out more about Hyde...for your two criteria I'm inclined to hit Hyde over 1OAK.Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Most clubs will have hot ladies on friday night. music is the tougher thing since most of the top clubs play mostly edm/house instead of top 40/hip hop. Haven't been to 1oak yet to comment on there specifically, but fwiw AOD invasion is scheduled there for 5/18 night I believe.Originally posted by UMCPGrad202 View PostComment

I was at 1OAK a week ago Tuesday and had an absolute blast. At no point did I feel threatened by anybody, male or female! And people were dressed at various levels of fanciness, some of the locals were definitely more casual, but everybody was stylish, not like they were just rockin jeans & a tee.
Oh, and i was there all night...not just 3 minutes like that other poster.
Check the pics on spyonvegas, etc, and you'll get a feel for the typical crowd.Comment

Clubs obviously vary from night to night, week to week. I can only report on the night I was there, Tue 4/10 around 1am. The crowd just outside 1OAK looked pretty rough (both men and women and the women looked especially scary) that we almost didn't even bother going in. A host from XS that we met the night before had invited us to sit with him and his roommates at their table with bottle service, so we figured we would check it out. We gave his name at the door and were ushered in immediately. Upon entering, the club was filled with even sketchier people than the ones milling about outside. We barely did a loop around and just left instead, not even looking for our host and immediately hailing a cab back to Hyde! BTW, we had told our host at Hyde that we were leaving to go check out 1OAK and he said not to bother and that we wouldn't like it. We went anyways as we know that hosts are obviously going to promote thier clubs and not the competition and he later texted to ask how it was. Our response, "it was so ghetto that we are already back at Hyde!" Music at 1OAK was hardcore rap and we preferred the top 40/hip hop at Hyde. Also Hyde was much more upscale, a totally differerent clientele. Of course, maybe Fri & Sat nights are better. Each club seems to have it's prime night(s). See for yourself if you must. We just knew what we liked and didn't want to waste time. It was bad enough that we had wasted over $20 in cab fare to/fro.Originally posted by UMCPGrad202 View Post
P.S. Hyde is a lounge most nights from 5-10 but on certain nights it turns into a club after 10pm like Tues when we went. It is much smaller than the mega clubs, although not tiny. Great floorplan with several tables w/sofas thourought. At 11pm when we arrived it was busy but really picked up at midnight. went there last night. holy fuck around 1am DJ karma tore it up! It is super loud in there and i felt the bass on my nostrils! hip hop room is a little small but the main room is dope! mix of top 40 and little house heavy after 1 am. Robin Thicke was there and of course made panties drop all around the nightclub. def a place to get bottles.Comment
