Didn't know if these inquiries deserved their own threads. Almost put it in the nightclub thread, but thought I'd get a better response here, especially since I'm late posting in here.

So, I'm landing in Vegas this Wednesday (11th) and leaving on Monday (16th). I'm there because of a baceholor party, but will likely be doing my own thing most nights. I guess my first question is this:
IS THERE ANY TECHNO IN THIS TOWN??
Since I pretty much know the answer to that, let me continue. I'm looking for any advice on events for each night. I'm looking for good people and good music (read:edm). I still have respect for Morillo, so I'll likely be visiting Marquee on Saturday, although Christopher Lawrence is also playing that night so I don't know how I will manage a double dip. Other than that, the rest of the trip is wide open and all I see is a bunch of electro stuff. Avicii, Woods, Gold, Diplo, etc... don't appeal to me that much. I think Avicii will probably be a good party, so I'm not completely against attending if there is nothing better. (guest list anyone??)

I'm open to all suggestions, both day (though the weather doesn't look too great) and night. I haven't been out there in years, so I wouldn't mind checking out the cooler venues, but I won't do it in favor of elsewhere with better music and crowd. I'll even venture far off the strip if there's a reliable local gathering.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble and thanks in advance for any info. If anybody else will be out there at the same time, I'm always up for meeting new faces.

Nope not a lick of that kind of stuff in Vegas. It's top 40, electro, trance/progressive and hip hop at the clubs. If you're talking real deal european minimal house/techno you would be hard pressed to find much at all on the west coast or anywhere other than maybe NYC. But I'm sure you will run into throngs of people in vegas who think anything EDM is just "techno"

^ Good examples. The lines get really blurry when you start talking about all the sub-genres of edm, not to mention the sub-genres of those sub-genres... and so on. It's crazy. I'd say the major difference between these two forms is the heavy use of overlying synths and vocals in modern electro house compared with the relative lack of vocals and emphasis on basslines and percussion in techno.

I guess in my original post I was referring more to the current popular style of house associated with guys like Avicii and SHM as opposed to classic electro sounds. Still, all this stuff is really hard to differentiate nowadays and it just boils down to personal taste.
