Depending on what you are into;
I was in town for MDW last year, and let me tell you this it was more hectic than new years eve weekend, bottle service prices were out of control, hotels, casinos were jam packed, lines at the clubs were out control. Every club and pool will have top talent entire weekend but again bottle service prices and lines will be insane, better get on that pre-sale tickets if you are not doing the bottle service.
EDC is a massive event that goes for 3 days; it is basically a huge music festival hundred thousands of people attends, so you will be dealing with huge crowd and if you are truly into Electronic Dance Music you will be having a blast. You can also get bottle service at the EDC too. On top of that that whole week and EDC weekend all the pools and clubs will have numerous of DJs performing so you also have those options too if you dont want to attend EDC. Town will be buzzing prob, and you prob will see lot of people half way naked (lot of people ages between 18-21 especially) walking around the hotels, casinos all day long etc, so dont be suprised.

never done EDC but as a slightly older individual i presume EDC will most likely have a slightly younger crowd. probably not much difference in ages either weekend but I'll take my chances and stick with works for me, MDW

If you are interested in EDC i would suggest you should definitely book your trip like now, hotel prices already going up for that weekend and as closer it gets hotel prices will be insane. question are the clubs and rehav less crowded because so many people are at EDC?

I have been to EDC for the past three years. When it was in LA is was a blast. If you are at all interested in EDM, this is THE event to go to on the West coast. Now that it is in Vegas, I must say it was a hundred times better than LA. Although there are ~100,000 people at the event, it doesnt seem that bad. The layout and overall production blew everything else I had previously been to away (and I have much experience in this field). As for crowds, it is Vegas. There is always some convention/ flight/ show going on. The festival runs from the early afternoon until morning and you wont reach your hotel until 8-10AM. Take a quick nap and start over. We stayed at the old strip (Specially the Golden Nugget). We couldnt of picked a better location for three reasons (1) we were the closest of the hotels to the Speedway which resulted in a fast bus trip (2) much cheaper (3) much less crowded as most people think the only place to stay is on the main strip. We were there for EDC, not Vegas, so staying on the strip didnt matter. Our bus trip was about 30 min, while those who stayed on the crowded strip took 1-3 hours! No brainer in my opinion.
You will have a BLAST at EDC. Nothing like it. Carnival + rides + attractions + top talent DJS, how could you not? I found the age thing to not be as bad as other EDM festivals I have been to. With it being in Vegas, I think it was a deterrent for the younger folks to make it out there.
That being said, I will be doing MDW this year. The DJs are incredible and it is time for a change of scenery. Something about 21+, nightclub, day parties, maturity, and a bit more classiness is the way to go for me this year. I would have fun either way though. Depends on what you are really looking for. The price tag is a bit more however.

In my opinion, you wont get the true Vegas experience, at EDC. Yeah, you'll have a blast at EDC, assuming you are into electro music. But it's more of a fun, music festival experience, rather than a nightlife, hitting the clubs in Vegas experience. A whole different crowd at EDC, younger too.Comment
