  • The "Handshake"

Just got back from my week in Vegas! Before I start just wanted to say sorry to Joey Orr from 1OAK for dealing with me and my difficult and indecisive group! You're the man I will go to next time I'm in town again...

Basically I probably had the most difficult group to deal with EVER!

    Tue: 1OAK w/ 4 dudes and 2 girls

Wed: Lavo w/ 4 dudes and 3 girls

Thu: Tao FAIL!! Pure with only 2 dudes

Fri: 1OAK w/ 4 guys and one big room full of bad bitches basically 6 females...

In this trip I learned that a $50 handshake to the correct person will get my whole group in for free without paying cover and skipping that atrocious GA line!

@ 1oak both times, I went straight to the front, talked to the right person, "shook his hand" and was in the club with no wait and no hassle.! Plus everytime he saw me or my group for reentry he went straight to us and let us in before anyone else.!

Same thing with LAVO on old school Wednesday.! "handshake" then boom skip the lines, all 4 guys in for free and my female friend got to drink for free until 12.!

Tao was a different story, I barely got in the ropes until I was "escorted" out for being too drunk smh my group split up and half of us ended up at the pizza place by marquee and the other half at Pure...

All in all! When you don't have bottle service, and don't want to stand in line with a messed up ratio! Be nice and shake someones hand!!!

Sounds like you had a good time Ronder. Dont worry about Joey from 1OAK. I'll make some calls and smooth things over. Lets just say you owe me one.

I completely agree Ronde! Bottle service isn't for everyone, and I'm sure this "shake" works at some spots, most likely not the larger 1 tier spots though....

I'm curious to know why you hit 1OAK twice and on a Friday when I'd think you'd try some of the other bigger scenes?

Because I had a difficult group lol... The 6 girls didnt check in until 11:30 am and they took almost an hr to get ready! So by that time no one wanted to risk going to marquee or xs and not getting in. We already knew the guy from 1oak who we tipped in tuesday so we chose the easy route

Similar to my first, and so far only, experience at TAO. One of the chicks in our group was totally shitfaced and they wouldn't let her in...long story short, we received a phone call at 4am from security at the RIO saying they found her wondering the parking garage. Here's to hoping BS at TAO in April goes smoother...it's going to be a bit of a challenge making sure everyone goes hard AT the club and a little less before.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I have always known about the handshake but I never know how much to give. I don't want to seem cheap. I am heading to Vegas MDW. Here are the parties that I am going to so far.

              Thurs- Liquid
              Fri- Ditch Fridays
              Sat- Marquee/EBC
              Sun- EBC
              Mon- EBC

How much of a handshake should I give for myself and my wife to pass the line and wave cover? Especially on a holiday weekend?

I got the "hook" from Tao at about this time last year.
I was on the dance floor having a pretty good time and next thing I know, 2 dudes grab me and drag me into the backroom and kick me out. I was a little hammered, but nothing too serious. I suppose I may have bumped someone that spilled their drink, but I didn't do anything to crazy. No more Tao for me.

To skip line and wave cover on MDW? Might as well buy pre-sale tickets and save yourself the extra $50-100 you would use for the shake.

For all you guys, the handshake works anywhere as long as they are not overcapacity.

question if $50 wasn't enough does the doorman typically keep your money and say no? give you the money back and say get in line? or tell you how much more you would need to give him to get in?

You guys should just give a handshake to a host rather than a doorman, this way you can at least establish a "relationship" with said host and he will remember you for upcoming trips. Plus texting a host before hand you can clear up how much and if they will wave cover as well.

Before midnight or after 2. Usually from my experience I have been told I couldn't be helped cause they were so packed between 12-2.

I'm really surprised $50 even got a line skip with that many guys, let alone waving cover. I dropped more than that for just me and my girl, and that was with BS at Marquee. Sometimes you catch a break I guess!
