  • Bachelor Party Advice Please

Hello JC vets, I'm seeking your advice on the best approach on how to handle a bachelor party this weekend (3/24 through 3/26).

Let's start off with the details. Ratio is going to be horrible (7 males and no females). The party wants to hit Marquee on Sat and XS on Sun. We're trying to keep the budget between $3.5k and $4.5k for both nights all in.

This is the framework we've got in place so far, but so far nothing set in stone:

Sat @ Marquee (ATB is DJ) - looking at a getting a patio table that's hopefully not too far out at a $1.5k min spend. We figure with host tip ($200), security/table runner tip ($50) and 8% sales tax/ 20% server gratuity/ 10% LE tax ($570), we're at $2,320 for the night.

Sun @ XS (Swanky Tunes) - lined up a main room table on the back wall (table # in the 200's) facing the dance floor, opposite side from the bathrooms. Initially this deal was arranged with the understanding that there were 9 in the party. The host advised that he could get me 3 bottles of Goose for $1195, with possibly a bottle or two of bubbly comp'd. Figured a $250 tip to the host along with $200 to the cocktail waitress (XS doesn't seem to enforce the mandatory 20%), $50 to security/table runner, and about another $100 in tax puts us at around $1,800 all in for that night.

That puts us at $4,120 for both nights ... close enough to our $4k target that I could cover any minimal overages.

Question #1 - Considering the Sat/Sun time frames do those totals/estimates sound about right for the listed table locations or are are the minimums a tad high for a 7 male only party? I'm leaning towards asking the XS host if he can do 2 bottles of Goose at $800 (which was previously offered to me on an earlier trip) to start off with for a party of 7 because we will most likely be ordering a 3rd bottle anyway as the night goes on. Sounds like there are deals to be had on Sunday nights.

Question #2 - I've been told that main room tables at Marquee for a party of 7 males start off at $2.5k min spend. Is that accurate or is there a chance that I get that min spend down to $2k. If I can swing that, I'm pretty sure I can talk the guys into putting down $500 more (hell I'd do it myself) to upgrade from the patio to the main room. But a $1k diff from patio to main room is too much for me to handle on my own. How much of an additional tip (over the originally planned $200) would I have to add to secure a decent table at Marquee. I don't have any delusions of getting any of the 50's to 60's on the main dance floor, but something with decent sight lines to the main stage and something that would put us in the heart of the action.

I'm curious to see what the community has to say about what we currently have lined up. Any tips or suggestions to help get that figure down even just a little bit would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough to think about, What should a party of 4 (3 male/ 1 female) be looking to pay for a main room table for Marquee Monday on 3/27. I'm thinking of extending my trip for an extra day =)

    Thanks all!

I think you're getting good deals on your existing arrangements (particularly 7 guys in Marquee for $1.5k on a Saturday...$2k for 7 guys on Sat for main room is unrealistic). You can try to negotiate XS down as your numbers have gone down, but don't expect $800 to happen. "Most likely to happen" doesn't cut it, if you're gonna spend it anyway, stick to the 3 bottle deal for savings ($400/bottle instead of the normal $475 if you order one more)

Thanks for the validation, webgott. I wasn't sure if these were the best deals that I could get. It helps to hear that someone is thinking along the same lines. I had a feeling that the $2k min spend for main room was a combination of wishful thinking and a pipe dream. Oh well.

Sounds like we're getting passed the industry special (Goose + Moet for $395) at XS on Sunday night. Any negotiation tips to try and get the Marquee Min. Spend down a couple of bills, would be greatly appreciated!
