  • How do YOU deal with your parties cheapskates?

Leaving in a week for LV. Contacted a couple hosts who were more then generous with prices (thanks again!) but now when I mention the cost per person everyone is bailing. (and the price is less thanks to the generosity of the folks on here).

I only have 1 night to do it right- and even though they are my friends, and thu did fly to vegas for my wedding, I smell a buzz kill hurricane coming. Any suggestions? I don't feel like getting drunk alone at the nickel machines in the 4 Queens.

Breakdown the cost if you were to not get bottle serivce.... if you plan on going pretty hard and what the best time possible it makes party-sense to get a table, and there is also financial break even poiunt where getting the table is cheaper than entry, wait time, individual drinks, etc

I agree, break it down for them because chances are if your a bunch of guys and can drink, a table will be cheaper and provide you with an overall better night. Worst case senario take the 1 or 2 that are interested and see if you can hook up with someone else from here that may be there and go in on a table. Good Luck!

$200-$250 a person for a night out at a top spot in Vegas is par for the course and worth every penny.

Without a table, they will spend $50 on cover alone after waiting for 2 hours in line.

Those that are really resistant, I'd leave them out of my plans

Yeah/ it makes it hard for me to make a quote when everyone is floundering, as I can't give the hosts a solid number. I figured $200 a head with 8 of us was a smoking deal, but that number made everyone start mumbling. (this included tips as the host is trying to make it vegas noob proof, and even included an extra bottle.)

The worst part is I feel like I wasted THEIR time. They are doing me a favor (well I feel that way) and now I may have to bail. I guess I just say screw it and go again in May alone. Lol!

Here is how I usually convince someone it is worth it:
Let say you have 6 guys for this night out....

Lets say you get B1G1 deal from a host somewhere - meaning that with all taxes/tips/bottles - everything you're looking at like $800 +/-
So that is $134 per person.

            Two 1liter bottles = ~64oz. of booze
64oz. of booze = ~42 drinks at 1.5oz of booze per drink (7 drinks per person)

If you wanted the same night without bottle serivce -
            6 guys cover is ~$30 each = $180
+ 30-90 minutes of waiting... not sure what your time is worth, but this part sucks.
Mixed drink in a Vegas club is ~$14 + tip... so lets just say you give $15 for each drink.
42 drinks (to equal the number you would have with bottles) * $15 = $630

Your new total is around $810 for the same amount of booze, but you have no where to sit, had to waste time stnading in line, and have to wait for drinks at the bar (people forget about how much this sucks).

So honestly you come in cheaper, you've wasted less time, and had a place to call home for the night.... its a no brainer once you get over 4/5 people

I planned a trip for my wife's 30th bday with two other couples. We're doing a limo & bottle service on the night of her birthday. I knew going in that the others would be on limited budgets so I decided to pay for everything that night right from the start.

Sure it would've been nice for them to kick in something, but I didn't want anything to get in the way of our good time that night or have to deal with hard feelings if someone didn't pay their "fair share".

Don't know if that's an option for you, but it sure would suck if your good time or a friendship got ruined over the deal. You only live once my friend...no do-overs on this one. If anything go fewer people on the table reservation and put the "woblers" on the guest list, then make them stand all night and order from the bar
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

My suggestion, if they can't shell out $200 for one night then don't do bottle service, and once they complain on how much things suck because of waiting in lines, standing, girls ditching them because they go off with guys who actually have a table, then just remind them they chose to not get a table.

I'd say hit these guys up and go in with them on a table then the cheapskates can wait in line...

Also, if you really want to get your friends in, remind them they are in VEGAS. 200 bucks for a night in Vegas is a STEAL. What kind of night are they going to have for 100 bucks? What better deal are they going to get?

i'm no longer in he business of convincing my friends to have good time. if they dont want to partake thats on them. i ask them once maybe twice. answer any questions they might have. lay out the costs, venue, time to meet, etc.... if they say yes cool. if they say no cool. if they are indecisive i tell them ill meet them there but that they are on their own - unless they have a legitimate reason of course. after this conversation thats it. i never bring it up again. i just go about my plans.

I suggest teach them a lesson.

Find another forum member to go in on a table with you. Let your friends all stand in line for GA while you get walked past the rope. Tell them to find you once they get inside. Let them watch from the bar how much more awesome your plan was and hopefully they'll be ready to commit next time. Or even better, join you and throw down for more bottles.

Some people just don't get that to do things right in Vegas it takes money. I have have friends that won't spend $200 a btl back home for BS at a club, but have learned that to do it right in Vegas you have to pay to play if they want to come with me.

This is what I'm thinking. Unfortunitly it's my stag, so they plan on strippers preclub (I have no idea if they called a host there) then god knows what- I've said I'd prefer hitting a club and dropped some hosts names/numbers. Hopefully they won't shit the bed, but the idea of just getting a table with the 2-3 that realize its a deal and making the rest stand in line is genius.
