Whats the best way for 8 people to get around the strip/downtown over 4 days - taking a car from the hotel or can anyone recommend a taxi / limo company that does not charge th earth?
if your on strip just walk. Its a great experience. I recently walked from Freemont to strip and you really get to get an experience for what its worth.
But I'd say cab it, if you can afford a limo, get one of those.
If you have a sober driver, renting a car is by far the cheapest option for that many people. Dollar.com is my go to for consistent cheap rates. It really depends on where you are staying and trying to get to. One trip to / from Fremont and the Strip won't kill you. Multiple trips will be costly. If you are mostly on the strip, then as suggested walk it. I don't recommend the monorail for large groups....$5 per person each way is not a bargain. Also check out the bus. There are passes available for unlimited rides for $7 per day, and it runs 24/7.

i would not recommend walking from the strip to freemont. that area in between is not the best and also you waste ALOT Of time.. thats precious vegas time and IMO not worth the few dollars plus all the energy.
walking along up and down teh strip is fine. for 8 people, cabbing it will be very cheap.. even a limo wont be over the top expensive for 8
