  • Time to plan, what's changing/new?

Ok I know the dates for the next trip to Vegas, or at least with the guys (there might be one with the wife prior).

But we were just there in December and I know that in Vegas things change dramatically. I don't have number in the group yet, which I know could effect plans, but let's talk what's actually going on in Vegas.

What is or will be new by the first weekend in November? I have seen a couple things on Hyde and that looks amazing. I also remember there being a lot of talk about 1OAK.

Any other changes or new openings going to be happening around that time? On the same token what's trending right now as far as the hot clubs? Are Marquee and XS still the "IT" club but insanely busy and way too crowded? Did Rain get the remodel that was rumored?

We know the party is what we make of it, but even with table service we still want some breathing room. Nothing sucks more than having a table but everyone is able to just stand in front of it forcing the bouncer to work extra hard.

We know we will be hitting up Moon and GBDC (if it's brought back) as we had the most fun there out of all the clubs we have been to. With 2 empty nights for certain and maybe 3 (the trip is Thurs-Sun or might be Thurs-Mon) I am in planning mode.

Here's the list of clubs we have been to and will not be going back to for one reason or another unless someone convinces me otherwise.
    Tryst
    Pure
    Cathouse
    Tao
    Vanity

Thanks for the help yet again

Do tell? What's up with the black list? There's some big names on there...
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Since you asked nicely I will share. Though I must say that these were all clubs we have been to before and are looking for something else. Also I didn't want to post the reasons in the original post.

Tryst - we hit this club on our first trip and had a good time. We didn't do table service cause we were rather stupid. What we did was purchase some passes on ebay to skip the line and they worked. Keep in mind this trip was about 5 years ago now. The place was a good size crowd - what we look for in a place so that was good. But when looking into it for our last trip it just didn't mess well at all. In talking to several hosts (both that work there and at other clubs) there was an air of superiority that seemed to follow. Almost like a sales pitch of "we are better than you, so come give us your money and we will make fun of you for spending your money here". And then in talking to other colleagues that went to Tryst while my friends went to other clubs, they also felt the same way. It was more Pay to Play with out a lot of play. Thus it's off the list.

Pure - we have been twice to Pure. Once was an insanely crowded night with every room open, downstairs, pussycat dolls, up stairs, outside. It was mad hopping. The second time only the main room was open. Both times it was WAY over crowded. Again, no table service for this club, but not a big deal at the time. Walking from one side of the club to the other shouldn't take five plus minutes and that's what it was taking. Additionally the dance floor was insanely packed, like sardines and while trying to traverse the crowd, someone either tried to cop a feel or were trying to steal a non-existent wallet out of my back pocket. Fun place, but not enough for us to go through the jam packing of people in.

Cathouse - See my trip report for this club. Absolutely amazing as the crowd is like 7:1 girl:guy which is great. The downside is that the girls all get to drink for FREE anyways. Why would they want to come hang out at your table and drink when they can dance where ever they want and still get free booze. At the time if they had a group of 5 they were getting FREE TABLES. WTF? I paid like $1000 for my table (got a lot of booze) but at the end of the day the value wasn't there. Additionally I have since learned that Darryll left this club who was super helpful in my previous planning.

Tao - we hit this club up after a night out at Pure if I am not mistaken. It wasn't too late so the crowd was still there. The place was beautiful and amazingly enough we had the best luck at this club. The downside to this club were the insanely high bottle prices we were quoted ($600+ for 1). That didn't even get us in a good location. This is a club that I could likely be persuaded to go to again, but I question why when there are so many others that I haven't tried yet.

Vanity - this club was hit up while Real World was filming at the Hard Rock. Crowd was full of energy and the layout was amazing. What appeared to be an overcrowded dance floor from slightly above, really wasn't once you got down there. The problem though was that it seemed like all the people dancing were with a table as we got ushered away from parts of the floor. We weren't even close to anyone's table (we hate when people crowd ours, we don't do the same) and yet it seemed like the only place to be on the floor was right in front of the stairs. Who wants to be right there constantly having to move out of people's way. The club was great and could end up on a return list, but like Tao, there's others I haven't been too.

I look at the list of clubs we haven't been to like Marquee, XS, Bank, LAX, 1OAK, Surrender, Lavo, RPM and Haze. With only 3 or maybe 4 nights to go out, why only go to the places you have been?

Given your criteria, I'm trying figure out why you would go to Moon again. The only time I was there people were packed in like sardines. It's not that the club was bad, but finding room that night was impossible.

It looks to me like the OP won't like any of the mega clubs (too crowded and too much focus on money). I think the OP should focus on the lounges. Granted the OP's review of Cathouse is very confusing . . .

I have never viewed too many girls drinking for free as a negative. They still need a place to set their drinks down and rest their feet.

Hah I can see why people thinking girls drinking for free wouldn't be a bad thing. We did too at first. Only problem was that in a normal setting you offer a girl a free drink and she likely says yes. But if that is already given to her by the club, then she quickly says no and goes back to her girls. As for needing a place to put a drink what girl ever puts her drink down in a club unless it's by her friends?

One other thing. We aren't opposed to the Pay to Play mentality, after all it is Vegas. But what we are opposed to are the snobbish assholes who's sales pitch is "We are the best, and you are not" type thing. Seriously, I want to give you money, at least pretend to work for it a bit.

As far as the crowds go, again, we are looking for table service and I don't want to be jam packed into my table. The entire purpose of having said table isn't just for a place to store our stuff, but to actually have room to converse and dance. I know it's security's job to make sure that people don't hover around the table, but if its so crowded that they are having to do that every 5 minutes it gets annoying. I'd rather see my waitress every 5 minutes than the security guard.

You have some good points. I never had a host make me feel like they were better than me. It's too bad you did because most are not that way. If one made me feel that way I would be onto the next. It might not matter much to the host but it would make me happier knowing I didn't book through them.

The new Wynncore club should be open by then, right? Climaxx, or whatever they end up calling it.
