Does anyone ever decide which club to go to based on what "Celebrity" will be there?
I have no interest if a Hilton, Kardashian, Mayweather, some UFC fighter, race car driver, etc is at a club. (I have been to clubs where this was "featured" but it certainly didn't influence my decision on where to go).
    What is the appeal?
And why do clubs pay appearance fees?

I agree, unless it is a musician that will do a song or two. Then it is awesome.

      hosting..

when a celeb is hosting, having a bday, releasing a clothing line ect MAJORITY of the time they are booked for PR reasons. Some events may sway the general public to go to one club over another. Back in the day this use to influence alot of tables and general now its about the djs, performers ect.

Being in vegas ive met alot of celebs, performers, djs and i dont really get influenced by who is there for the most part. When your around here 24/7 its more about the relationships you build. If some major artist is somewhere on a tuesday and i have a client and i had a friend from a different club send me a table or needed help i would push his club before the major artist just based on relationship and where the client would have the most fun. Sometimes being at the best club doesnt always mean your going to have the best time

I agree with you. Most of the times i try to get away from any celebs appereances because most of the time you dont see them and all of the prices go higher, which is not worth it in my book.

Also regarding your on "Sometimes being at the best club doesnt always mean your going to have the best time". Ive had some of the best times at Jet nightclub. If you are around good crowd you can make the best out of any night and any club

Well...other than being able to say that I've sung Happy Birthday to Rummer Willis, Nikki Manaj, Kim Kardashian & Floyd Mayweather...the advertised celeb appearance didn't enhance my club experience or influence my choice in club. I do agree, a good DJ will make the night better...having a guest appearance by Dana Plato and Brodie Jenner...not so much.
