Different take on Vegas (taking the wife)

Hey JC,

Heading down to Vegas May 18th-21st for my buddy's bachelor party (which looks like a wicked time since MayOD is taking over that weekend) - however, I'm going in a couple weeks from Mar 12th to Mar 16th, but taking my wife =) We're newlyweds, married in August.

She's never been to Vegas, so I wanted to take her before I went off yet again in May with the boys. My problem - I've never been to Vegas without a big group, and without the sole intention of going crazy and partying.

We'll be taking in some shows, shopping, shooting guns at the store, and eating out - I did want to take her out to a club on one of the nights. I'm used to doing bottles so getting in and paying for cover has never been an issue for me; if it's just the two of us, I'm assuming if we're not doing bottles the only option for us is to just line up regularly, and pay cover? According to JC LAX, Surrender, and LAVO are best for Wednesday night, any other recommendations?

I take my wife with me more often than not and usually have more fun with her, but I know I'm fortunate in that respect.

As for your question, you can pre-arrange something with a host. You'll just need to be prepared to tip said host. The more you tip, the sooner you'll get in and the less likely you will be to pay cover.

I'm not exactly an expert on this kind of thing and I don't go to Vegas very often.

But my wife & I went out to dinner at the Voodoo Steak restaurant at the Rio. After that, I'm pretty sure that we got into the Voodoo Lounge with no cover and no wait.

But this was in November and only a few of us weirdos thought that hanging out on the 30 F Voodoo Lounge terrace was a good idea. We did meet some nice people from northern Europe (Sweden or Norway?) who also thought that dancing in subzero temperatures is a fun thing to do.

What sort of music do you want? Surrender will be house, LAX will be top 40/hip-hop. Wednesday is old skool hip-hop night at lavo. RPM is another Wednesday option.

Taking your girl to Vegas is fun...and a sure thing, done it quite a few times. European pool a Encore (topless optional), dinner a SW (Wynn), then did Surrender on a Wednesday...good times, your plan looks good.

What about the VIP passes available from vegas.com?

Noticed a $50 LAX VIP pass that gets you open bar from 10:30pm-12:30am; are those worth it?

I would recommend showing her the "family" side of Vegas and limit the party type stuff. That way, she isn't concerned when you go back with the guys.
