  • Which DJ's make the minimums go up?

I'm looking at Marquee and I noticed they have a featured DJ every Friday and Saturday. Not a surprise or anything, but I know some DJ's have a high draw and the table minimums go up for them.

I'm not up on all of the DJ's, but I know when I see Paul Oakenfold the tables are gonna skyrocket. But what about guys like Benny Benassi and Hardwell? I've never heard of them (which doesn't mean much), so how do I tell who I should expect crazy prices for?

Well, using the DJ Mag Top 100 list, Benny Benassi is #27, and Hardwell is #24. For comparison sake, Oakenfold is #69.

I suspect Benassi has a better name draw; he's been around for a while, and is probably best known for his 2003 hit Satisfaction and more recently Cinema, although Skrillex's remix of it I think has outpaced his original.

Hardwell's fairly new but puts on a good show and is hot from a tour with Tiesto. Both he and Benassi are Electro House-y, but Hardwell's tracks tend more towards the big room anthem-y feel (examples: Encoded, Cobra, Zero 76).

Threw links to Youtube vids up there in case you want to figure out which one you were interested in musically, I suspect both are going to be fairly decent draws and might bump minimums. If I was to guess, I'd pick Benassi to be more likely to raise them, since he's had more time to get name recognition, especially among the slightly older demographic that are more likely to get tables.

Oakenfold prob wont make the min go that high prob $250-300 increase. I'd say at the top are dj's like Avicii, Afrojack, Kaskade, Skrillex. I know for example when Avicii came into town on a certain Monday the regular 1500 min for a good table went up to 2500. Also depends on what kind of weekend. I know $500 tables were selling for 1,000 on CES weekend. So its all a mixture. Also depends on the person you are dealing with, certain hosts are allowed to do certain things. Also it depends on how you are. If you use a certain host on a consistent basis i'm sure they give you fair/better min. I know top spenders, who spend 10,000 plus do not deal with min. The nightclubs virtually do not want to insult them.

100% agree. Txted my host at Surrender about Skrillex this past Sat and he told me 2btl min with a good table. Out of curiosity txted another host and he told me min was 3btls and table was in shittiest area of the club pretty much. If I wanted same area as quoted by my host it would be 3 btls plus 500 shake.

So like Alics said, it also depends on your relationship with the host. I use him often and refer him to friends coming to town, so treat your hosts well and they will remember you.

From the personal experience you can count on Kaskade, Tiesto, Avicii, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Afrojack and any member of SHM to increase the minimums up or at least expect your location to be shitty if you are willing to stick with minimums you normally get other nights. But if you have a good relationship/history with host you might still get deals you want.

Thanks fordan, now I have reference material! I guess I gotta keep up. And I do remember Satisfaction, never knew who did it. Thanks to everybody else for the insight too.

So since I only get out to Vegas once a year if I'm lucky and don't have a regular relationship with any hosts, I'm probably looking at high minimums for a shitty table on a Saturday night, huh? With Marquee in particular, is it like this every weekend year-round (big name dj's)?

Some friends aren't fans of Dubstep and I can only handle it for some much, so we ended up going to Chateau instead where we also had 2 goose for $600 deal with dancefloor table. In hindsight maybe we should've gone to Skrillex but the deal we had on a Sat night was too good to pass up.

The hosts on this site look after JC members. Just txt them give them your situation, how much you can spend, and tell them you will take care of them, if they take care of you.

I know many people dislike him but I'm pretty sure David Guetta would bump it up... He is #1 in DJMag after all.

Yeah right now it seems to be Tiesto, guetta, Avicii, and deadmau5. Skrillex may take over at this rate though. Those guys inflate everything.

Also, Looking at that list it's crazy how djs can rise and fall so fast. I actually wonder if they rise and fall based on Vegas gigs sometimes. Last year Sanchez at marquee was a tough ticket...to me he was ok. Now Benassi at Tao beach tore it down.

I'm looking forward to manufactured superstars at xs in march. I like their style a lot, but they don't seem to be too highly sought after either.
