Recommended suite for wedding reception

Hey everyone,

My fiance and I are getting married in Vegas in April of 2013 and we wanted to host the reception in one of the hotel's suites. We are both 28 and the majority of the guests will be around our age as well.
We had our hopes on getting the Apex Suite at PH but just learned that it is not available to reserve (you must request an upgrade during check-in of a standard room). This doesn't work for us as we need to have a solid time/location set. The reason we really liked the look of this room was because of it's hip and modern look and great strip view. It also seemed to have a large "living room" area.

Here's our wants/needs:

Budget: $500-1000/night
Guests: 30-40
Sq ft required: 1500+, although we want a large socializing area. It seems like most of the square footage is eaten up by large bedrooms which we do not care about.
Date: April 2013, we have no problem saving money by booking a weekday
Decor: We really like the modern style suites (Mandalay Bay Hopitality Suites, most suites at Hard Rock, etc).
Food: we would prefer a hotel that allows outside catering; however this is not a deal breaker.
Music: as loud as we want
Location: 99% that we want something on the strip

In addition, a nice view and/or balcony would be ideal but again is not a must have.

Any recommendations will be GREATLY appreciated.

I think you're pretty close on with the Mandalay Bay - Check out The H Suite at THEHotel (http://mandalaybay.com/thehotel/acco...e-h-suite.aspx).

I've stayed in one of the H Suites before, as well as had a formal cocktail reception in another H Suite (different trip) and it's got a lot of what you're looking for.

View - awesome, Southern tip of the strip looking Northward from a high floor.

Space - it's around 1,600 sqft with a large common space that for the purposes of the cocktail reception was suitable for about 30 to 40 people.

Cost - Well, not sure what the Cocktail Reception people paid (corporate expense I bet), but I actually had the dumb luck to Sandwich my way to the H Suite on that separate trip, so I have no idea how much - but it can't be too much since $50 convinced the Front Desk to let me stay there.

I've heard that the decor at the suites at MGM is a little dated.

Any other thoughts?

Skylofts decore is not out dated. You are confusing MGM suites and MGM skyloft suites. Skylofts has a separate website and the website has videos of the suites.

Yes, MGM Skylofts are MUCH different than regular MGM Grand... however, MGM Grand just finished a Facelift as well so they've refreshed all their rooms.

Skylofts decore is not out dated. You are confusing MGM suites and MGM skyloft suites. Skylofts has a separate website and the website has videos of the suites.

I just checked out a video of the Skylofts. They do look pretty nice but I am concerned that they do not have enough open space (too many walls, rooms, and tables). Also, the view doesn't look all that great (would prefer strip view).

I really would like the suite to have a party feel to it.

...An actual suite with a socializing area for 30-40 people with a $1000/night budget on the strip in an updated style is going to be extremely difficult to find IMO.

...if your budget is pretty fixed I would look into reception rooms that have a strip view, that aren't actually hotel rooms.

...I attended a wedding reception in a reception room at the top of the Stratosphere with floor to ceiling windows that probably has one of the best views of the strip at night. They had a DJ and no one bugged us about the music level.

Yeah, it looked great but in my OP you will see that they don't do reservations on this room.

Ive stay in the panoramic suite at PH which is very similar to the apex, but slightly smaller. Personally, their decor isnt great. Although it was somewhat modern, it seemed old and faded. Palms Place and Sky Lofts decor is 10 times better IMO.

+1 to what was said about your budget. Your size and view requirements are tough for under $1000/night at a Big Name Hotel, especially this early. Your better to find a last minute deal during the week or a knockoff hotel like Jockey Club, Platinum, ect.

Not sure. The one I posted was a private listing, so Id think they are on the low end. Like I said, yoru over a year out, so its probably going to be hard to find a deal.
