  • Drugs in clubs - Marquee

I thought it might be good for people to know the hard stance that Marquee is taking on drugs in their club.

At least six different people were arrested for felony cocaine possession at Marquee this past Friday and the way they were apprehended is a bit offensive to me. Marquee security is forcing their way into bathroom stalls and then demanding the patrons empty their pockets. It is unclear to me how, or even if, they know that the patron has drugs on their person. I also don't know how many patrons they have searched and found no drugs. If this was the police there would likely be no probable cause for the patron to be searched but from what I understand most of the patrons emptied their pockets voluntarily when asked.

Anyway I just wanted to let the crowd here know to be careful if your plans include party favors, especially at Marquee.

It's definitely a legal grey area to demand to see your pockets inside a nightclub, but this is a very precarious situation because you (or any patron) are almost certainly intoxicated and it's incredibly easy for them to claim you were aggressive towards them when they forceably check your pockets.

Checking your pockets as a condition of entry is legal, but I doubt there is a viable claim to allow bouncers to search your persons at any point for any reason during the night.

        Scary stuff.

I dont partake in any party favors myself, but I've been to Marquee several times this year and coke is all over those bathrooms. lol.
Maybe its just the size of the place and the capacity, but from what I recall the other clubs' bathrooms arent as littered with that stuff.

So what if you said no to a search? are you going to get kicked out?

This is where you're at a distinct disadvantange. Did you just say "no", or did you start to get aggressive when they politely asked to see what was in your pockets? Your drunken word against 4 security guards isn't going to work in your favor.

It's an uncomfortable situation for patrons.

I'm not surprised - all the spots who have Attendants (which is pretty much every good club), those attendants will get security if they suspect anything is going on. I had it happen to me, actually was a bit full so needed to #2 - was in there for a while and then on my way out, a bouncer was waiting by the door and asked to check my pockets.

Since I wasn't up to anything nefarious I simply obliged - the bouncer let me on my way, apologizing but said "we can't be too careful".

It was funny because the stalls at this club (full disclosure it was Tryst) have doors that completely close shut - you're in your own little room in there, and I was thinking to myself "this WOULD be the perfect place if someone was looking to do that type of thing"
"Bringing a girl to Vegas is like bringing a warm beer to a bar that serves FREE COLD BEERS... and everyone sitting there just spilling Cold Beer all over the place and you have to pretend you just loooove your warm beer." - Andy Haynes

If this is true and you don't empty your pockets, you are surely going to get kicked out, not arrested but kicked out. It's private property both the club and hotel they can get away with alot. As for jumping into the stalls i'm sure that is a little exaggerated i'm sure they are waiting for you to get out, that may catch them a lawsuit if they are jumping in stalls, seems very invasive.

I'm not gonna say this is a 100% fool proof plan or anything, but from my/friends experience, tipping $20-50 to the bathroom attendant usually prevents any trouble like this.

In fact, if you do tip like that, they usually cut you to the front of the line if you're in the stall line.

My 2 cents, which is on sale for a penny today.

Rookie mistake, A $10 investment in a bullet and you don't need to worry about going to the bathroom!

Yep. This is what sucks. Say no and your getting kicked out. Say Yes and I would feel like a little bitch.......The problem with vegas bouncers are their useally bigger then me

I dont think they are jumping into stalls either.
