  • Looking for a little direction....

OK, I've been to Vegas about 20x's....BUT.....haven't been there in 10 years (now I'm 37---sigh)....so......it has dawned on me that given that I'm a DECADE older now, perhaps I should change my thought process. "Back in the day" of course I'd hang at the clubs like any other twenty-something year old would do and dance my ass off, score a hottie, and have a good time. I'm kinda thinkin' that I'd better take a different approach this March when I'm there. I'll be with 3 other guys. 3 of us are mid 30's and 1 guy is mid-40's. I'm thinking we should probably be looking more toward the "lounge" scene. When I say "lounge" I just mean cool location without the "trance music"......

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Just go to a club. There are tons of people your age that go to clubs there all the time.

Yeah, this. Help me not feel so conspicuous.

If dancing is what you (and your friends) want to do, go to the club. If you're looking for a place to chill and drink and talk, find a good lounge. But I wouldn't let your age scare you from going to a club.

I've heard good things about Mix Lounge @ Mandalay Bay. Haven't personally been there so might wanna ask around about it.

+1. I'm 40. I go to Vegas 2x per year with a group of guys that range in age from 35-40. We hit the pools and the nightclubs and we have a blast. The pool parties typically have a younger demographic so we hit the regular pools. The nightclubs have all ages. Your target demo is women in their 30s. There are plenty of women in their 30s in the nightclubs. Don't feel self conscious about your age at all. Vegas is packed with me and women in their mid 30s and older looking for a good time. Just make sure you bring your A game (i.e., get in good shape).

We're definitely looking for some suggestions for the Lounge-Type scene. A place to drink, chill, talk.....

I'll definitely check out Mix Loung. Thanks for the suggestion Saint.

BigPimp.....me and the treadmill have become very good friends since Thanksgiving time......LOL

At 33 I thought the same thing. Then I went everywhere I used to go... Nothing has changed. Don't make me quote that one movie line ...they stay the same age! :-)

I like Mix for early appetizers and drinks, but as a club, Id never suggest it. From my experience, the average age was 45, and a lot of couples.

If your really wanting a mature crowd, Id go to Vodoo over Mix. BUT I honestly think youll enjoy XS, Surrender, Tryst, or some of the Plams clubs more than either of those.

Im 37 and have never felt out place at any Vegas club.

I'm about the same, and never felt out of place. Vegas clubs tend to have an older demographic vs most places anyway.

Also agree on Mix. Chill spot with a great view, but more a place to pregame before hitting somewhere a bit more pumping.

Another option that might fit what you're looking for is Cathouse. Got a lounge area, mixed crowd and you can get good bang for buck if you're planning on doing bottles.

First of all...thanks for all of the input. Everybody has been very helpful. Here's our tentative plans for each night of the week. Also, we plan on getting Bottle Service at each venue as of right now. Feedback would be appreciated. (Remember, we are all upper 30's and 1 guy is 46 so full blown clubs are probably out of the picture for at least 1 guy in our group)

                            Wednesday
                            Lavo

                            Thursday
                            Playboy Club/Moon

                            Friday
                            Tabu

                            Saturday
                            Tryst

                            Sunday
                            Ghostbar

Thanks in advance for additional input.

My suggestion would be to replace Tabu with a better club on Friday. Your target demographic (women low 30s and up) will be most represented in Vegas on Friday and Saturday. You do not want to waste a Friday night in Vegas at Tabu. Tryst will be great on Saturday. Try Surrender on Friday. Your targeted demographic will be a minority of the women at any club. But more will be at Surrender than at Tabu. You want to go where there are more fish in the pond so to speak. You are going to feel old - you are self-conscious about it now and that will old be emphasized in your mind when the 20 somethings are all around you. But don't sweat that. Your targeted demographic will be there. You have to look for them and work a bit harder. But trust me if your targeted demographic is at a nightclub in Vegas (not Tabu) they will be looking to have a good time.

Edit: If you go to Surrender - and go to Surrender - let Mikey T know you want a quieter table. I don't know what Surrender does when it is cold outside (I have been only in May) but an outside table is great because you are away from the packed inside and near the DJ. You can hear the music, dance and hear each other talk.
