  • Its been a year - what's changed/what to do

T-minus 1 month until my next trip... the last trip was about the same exact time as my trip last winter and just wondering what all is changed and I should know about.

Last year - 7 day trip from Jan 10th-16th
This year - 8 day trip from Jan 11th-18th

... other than the ladies of our group going to Miss America Pageant (they were all past contestants too ) what else should be have on the MUST DO list??... and is there anything new from our trip last year that is woth checking out?

I know there will be some new clubs opening around new year but other "new" vegas things worth putting on my radar of things to do,

    Thanks!

I know Darryll runs crazy bottle deals at Cathouse that he started toward the end of 2011. I'm not sure if they'll carry into 2012, but its worth contact him to see what he can do for you. As far as I know it was the best bang for your buck in Vegas and there was always a ton of girls there, so that was fun.

I'm sure you'll want to check out 1Oak at Mirage which occupied the old Jet space.

And if you want to be a part of some fun, I think Studio 54's closing party will be taking place during the week that you're there. It hasn't been a good venue for a long time, but I'm sure the closing party will be a blast.
    Vegas Trips to-date:
    November 12-13, 2008 - Palms Standard
March 18-22, 2009 - MGM Grand Bungalow Suite
April 22-26, 2010 - MGM Grand Bungalow Suite
    June 2-6, 2011 - Venetian Bella Suite
June 21-26, 2012 - Cosmopolitan Wraparound Terrace Suite

          Jet turned into 1Oak....
Hyde (SBE from LA) makes an appearance in vegas and made the Bellagio its home...

both will be open when you get here..

Pink elephant will be hitting the MGM soon...

Wynn closed Blush and is clearing one of its old restaurants for a new club that he pulled out NO stops.. and NO budget limits.. 7.2 MILLION in just the lighting and sound (thats double the money XS Surrender and even marquee put into theirs..)

With all of those new places mentioned above and some of the "old" favorites like Marquee, XS, Tao... what would you guys suggest for a few nights out... first night there odds are just a lounge/chill and let everyone get to know each other (two friend circles coming together through me) and the last night half the group will take it easy because of a reaaally early flight.

So we have 5 practical nights to go out hard.... any suggestions?!
The only clubs I am really familiar with are Bank, Tryst, LAX, and Jet (which is dying)

Thurs - Tao, GA unless there is great deal to be had
            Fri - ? - XS bottles
Sat - ? Palms dinner and/or wristbands @ Rain for the guys - girls won't need them for how much they can handle
Sun - rest night/take it easy
            Mon - Marquee
**Unless you guys think some of the new places will be a better night out***
Any suggestions or input is appreciated, Thanks!

You need to hit up Ghostbar Day Club on Saturday when you are there. Read my trip report for detailed info. I was a bit skeptical at first, but all it took was 2 seconds inside for me to realize it was the best party in Vegas hands down.
                  March 2007 - Venetian | December 2010 - Flamingo | December 2011 - Palms | November 2012 - Cosmo | November 2013 - Mandalay Bay | June 2014 - PH

Vegas used to appeal to just gamblers, then drugs / gamblers and crime, then families.

We're obviously in the era where the late 20's crowd seems to be in control (appologies to anyone just outside that range). Vegas is making it's pitch to be the party center of the US and these last few years (particularly with the opening of the cosmo which doesn't seem to be gambler-centric at all) just reinforce this.

Most of the restuarants seem to now offer "pre-theatre" specials, but the timing of them makes them more "pre-clubbing" specials as well.

This past year in my opinion has really pushed in that direction

Hey Palms, if you're reading, how about a all day wristband?!

totally agree with this. the problem with this model is that cosmo loses a ton of money every quarter. they make a bunch on their restaurants and nightlife but they don't have the strong gambling base of other casinos to "pay the bills" i hardly see ppl gambling major coin here. i don't mean the whales who may be in some hidden room but the above average gamblers whos willing to play like 10K-50K. deutsche bank wants out of the gaming industry yesterday....at the very least they want to reduce their exposure. i think they own this joint 100%.
