Tipping...

When you get bottle service, you're charged tax and a service charge (usually 20%)...do you pay a tip on top of this for the hostess?

I try to tip 100 per bottle to the host/hostess. The auto gratuity goes towards the waitress. However, if the waitress does good you can slide her a bit extra as well.

So if your bottles come to $1000...you get charged tax and approx $200 for the bottle service/tip...then you tip on top of this..

I'm from England and over here, to be charged 20% service is a lot, so to tip on top sounds crazy...but if its the done thing in Vegas I guess thats how it goes.

Let say you're getting two bottles at $375 each.... your bill and "standard" tipping will break down like this:
Bottle 1 = $375
Bottle 2 = $375
Total = $750
8.1% sales tax adds $60.75
18% waitress tip adds $135

New 100% BARE MIN TOTAL (meaning you tip ZERO other people and are a jerk) = 945.75

Assuming you're hosts gets you no deal, just sets up the night I would tip $50-$100 (if you're getting a free bottle or two I would eaasily double that to $200+), figure at least $20 for security and at least $20 for the runner.

Now your realistic total (lets say $75 to host and minimum tips to EVERYONE else involved) will be about $1060.75

This is a perfect breakdown. We normally try and pull together to throw extra to the waitress IF she's done a good job.
