One of the drawbacks of being Aussie...getting to Vegas takes about 20 hours and your budget is $2-$3.5K in the hole just to get there..

BUT.. you could conceivably COULD do a Vegas weekend on a on a long weekend in Aust... Fly out Saturday morning, arrive Vegas Saturday lunchtime. Party hard for 30 hours. Get late afternoon connection to LA Sunday afternoon. Connect to Aust Sunday night. Touch down back in Aust feeling fresh as a daisy, 6AM Tuesday morning

Would have to have the most absolute, fuck off, once in a lifetime, mother of ALL parties lined up to make that kind of pain even remotely tempting though......so I'm in, when are we doing this?

If done right, with all the contacts you have from this forum, while planned ahead (as much as possible) - you could do it and it would be PHENOMENAL! - Would love to see that trip report on here man! :-)

Coming from Vancouver (Canada), I have to do a minimum four nights. My max is 7 nights. Its a 2.5 hour trip in the air + 2 hours in the airport crossing customs and waiting at the gate. There are only two or three flights coming in/out per day between Vancouver and Vegas so I have to do a minimum of four nights. In addition to partying, I also gamble so casinos are willing to comp me for at least five nights free + food, so I might as well stay longer. I make it down there at least 3/4x a year, up to max of 7x one year. I've never done anything less than four nights.

Makes complete sense. I bet you would do it for 3 days though... Just sayin'

this past trip i took, i had the thought of going to vegas in my mind during thanksgiving since i had 4 days off from work... decided on tuesday afternoon i go to vegas that night!! so i booked the red eye flight from Honolulu to vegas direct flight, packed my bags and headed to the airport within 4 hour time frame. woke up in vegas 7am the next day... bucket list action

from hawaii its easy to get to vegas, 2-3 direct flights a day to vegas is awesome! no need to lay over in LA or SFO just to go back up for an hour flight down to LAS. depending on how early you book flights range from 190-500 each way with a whole lot of specials booking rates as well.... vegas is called hawaii's 9th island for some reason i havent figured out but something about vegas and hawaii connection... heck we have our own casino in vegas lol California

When I'm home in LA I'll get the urge to drive out to Vegas, luckily my cousin is always up for Vegas. The first time I flew in to Long Beach, picked up a 350Z Convertible from the car rental place and called my cousin with a "Vegas tonight?" call. Told me he had court at 8am and couldn't miss it. We got to Vegas around 10pm.. hit up NYNY, Bellagio and CP. It was his first time to Vegas since after his 21st, which he should've told me so we didn't do a 8 hour trip for his first. Drove back thru the desert at 4am to make sure he got to court on time, he walked up to the courthouse as his case was being called..still in the same clothes as the day before.

On a regular 3-night trip I'll bring about $1k unless we plan on going really hard every night. About $200 for gambling and $800 for food/drinking. Hoping to bring about $2k for my trip next week though. I'm bringing my buddy that's only been once with family. Got BS lined up Saturday night @ Cathouse thru Daryll, probably do GBDC during the day to hopefully set up some meet ups for that night. Probably hit the Rhino up Friday night after bar hopping.

I know it's just a 45 min flight from LA but the door to door time is much longer. And even a round trip for $100 is a lot just for one night.

One night just isn't enough. I've flown cross country from ATL for just 2 nights plenty of times. I definitely prefer 3 nights
Over the past year or so I've gone to Vegas probably 8-10 times from LA.

At first I tried just going for two days at a time - as in: out Friday afternoon, back Sunday afternoon.

Over time though I find that three solid nights is the perfect length...as in: out Thursday or Friday, depart Sunday or Monday depending on what you want.

More partying: go out Thursday and catch the beginning of the weekend crowd, leave Sunday evening

Less partying: go out Friday and leave Monday night - thereby catching the more laid-back Sunday and Monday daytime

If the flight, hotel, and some fun nights are comped... Why not make a mess of it right?

haha - was an awesome time. Thanks buddy!

If I lived in LA I think I'd wind up in Vegas every weekend, no lie. 3 hours vs 8 hours. The trick is I've been taking these virgins and they're all for driving because they've never done it, but then I hold them to their word :P

Weekend for weekend, thanks to being in Hollywood I probably split my time evenly between here and Vegas.

My personal best time is 2hrs 21minutes. I'm faster than a fucking airplane!
