Biggest tip I can give you is- EDC is during a weekend in June 2014.
Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas is the world's largest electronic music festival. What weekend it is will be announced probably around October 2013. Its a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event that attracts around 120,000+ people to vegas.

In terms of hotels realize there is a big range in vegas- you can get rooms with two beds from $25 USD a night to $10,000+ a night suites. I would say if your going to be at pool parties during the day and nightclubs at night while also exploring the city you are going to spend very little time in the room. So you might go for the lowest end room so you have more money for food, entertainment, clubs, drinks etc.
Also keep in mind hotel rates are highest on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday- Thursday are the cheap nights. For example pay $50 usd Friday and Saturday night but Sunday- Thuesday should be $25.

In terms of clubs- lineups who the dj is will not be announced till around 30 or 60 or 90 days from event day.
