    Hi Guys and Girls,

I've been reading this forum for a while and decided it was finally time to take the plunge and join. As my name suggests, I'm Stu and as the thread title says, I'm an Aussie.

I have just booked the flights for my next trip to the USA and I will be there in early/mid December. This will be my third time to the USA and Vegas, the first time was with my parents at age 10 and the other time was last year with 5 mates.

I've gained great insight into the club/pub scene in Vegas already through this site and look forward to learning more before my trip.

    Madstu.

Welcome mate! Good to see a few more Aussies on here
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Thanks for the welcome Jhaulotte and ocam. I can't wait to get to Vegas to celebrate my 30th birthday in December.

Welcome! :-) I'm a big fan of Aussies in general. Where in Oz are you from?
I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

Thanks for the welcome Tara. The more I travel, the more I find everyone loves an Aussie (except the French, they seem to dislike everyone). I'm a Melbourne boy, born and bred.

Oh fun! I've never been to Melbourne, except for the airport once. But I hear I would love it (my future Mr., who is in Brisbane, HATES it like he hates my beloved NYC and so we've deduced I would probably love it). And yeah, you can get away with a lot of things with that accent.

Been to Melbourne airport on a stopover? There's hardly anywhere further to go.
Your Brisbane Mr is nuts. New York and Melbourne are 2 of my 3 favourite cities (the third being Berlin). I guess they are just too much like big cities for a country town guy (most people from Melbourne and Sydney consider Brisbane just a slightly larger country town, not a proper city.

Haha yes, he is basically a country kid- he grew up in Gympie. He is at least willing to let me take him to NY (theonly time he went, we didn't know each other yet). I'm quite sure I can convince him of its merits. IMO if you go there and just stick to tourist spots, it will be exactly as horrible as some people imagine.

And yes, Qantas once routed me through Melbourne to fly me back into LA. It was a bit brutal.

I'm already loving it here and learning an absolutely amazing amount of information. Can't wait to put my new found knowledge to good use on my next trip.

At least he's willing to learn the ways of the great cities.

Brisbane to LA via Melbourne is a bit brutal. I did book a more insane flight to get to LA to save a chunk of change. Melbourne to Christchurch (New Zealand), to Brisbane, to LA. Thankfully I found an even better deal direct Melbourne - LA.
