  • Hello from Nottingham, England!

    Hi All,

I'm currently 3 weeks away from my 2nd trip to Vegas - and it happens to be my Stag Do! My Best Man has organised the trip and they won't tell me exactly where we are staying but I have narrowed it down to a City Centre Hotel. Getting very excited now its close and cannot wait to get back to LV! Gonna be there Mon-Fri over Halloween too!

My first trip was May 2010 and I stayed at Excalibur (didn't spend much time there save for sleeping!). But I did enjoy some of the Downtown atmosphere and obviously introduced myself to the Strip. I was travelling alone but met some great people and will definitely be stopping by Ellis Island for a steak dinner and some beers!

So I doubt I will have much say in where we go but would love some tips on some bars to check out. We may try 1 club night but going as a group of 6 guys and having read some of this site I think getting in will be an issue! Smaller lounge or bar venues would be much better I think.

Anyway nice to meet you all and glad I stumbled upon this site!

    Si

Welcome Simon...make sure you get to Hyde for at least a lounge night. It's cool as hell.
Did you make sure your best man knew to come to the forums to setup your trip?
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I will be directing him here for sure! And will definitely try and push the group towards Hyde. I've seen your article on skydiving too and that is something I have always wanted to do so that may take up 1 day! Depends how my mates feel about that one!

Also we are going on a pretty modest budget - probably $1000-$1500 spending money pp for 4 nights. Any recommendations on what we shouldn't miss for that?!

So $250-375 per person per night. That's not too modest as long as nobody has a gambling problem like I do.
          Here's how I'd budget that:

In room supplies: (bought from Walgreens)
          Bottled Water: $15 (2 cases)
Booze: $40 (2 bottles of SKYY)
          Mixers: $20
*Make sure smokers bring enough with them from home
          TOTAL = $75

Day (This is my bare minimum budget, add for pool parties or other activities as needed)
          Food: $50
          Drinks: $20
Transportation: $20 (assuming cabs are shared, don't forget about the free TRAM at city center/Bellagio)
          Misc: $20
          Tips: $20

          Night
Food: $35 (assuming you eat relatively well, you could do a slice of pizza for $10 if you want)
          Drinks: $100
          Transportation: $20
          Misc: $40
          Tips: $40

          Day/Night TOTAL = $365

Obviously food is optional and the drinks can be minimized by utilizing your in room stash. Make sure you get a to-go cup of some kind so you can all mix up a stiff drink before heading out. If you are taking all of your cash with you and hope to not destroy a credit card, then I suggest taking envelopes and splitting up your cash by day and/or what the $ is budgeted for. It sounds nerdy but really helps to make sure you don't blow all your money in the first two days. If you just have all your cash in your wallet it will happen...

Thanks Chuck that is awesome info!

We should be able to hit something close to that - maximising room supply usage will be key I think! Food was worrying me but if you're saying $35 pp thats not too bad at all!

I know we won't have the cash for bottle service or a host but we will make the most of our time there I assure you! (oh and I may have a small problem with the gambling! So I will let you know how that turns out :s)

$35 pp won't have you eating like kings, but you can get a decent entree and a soft drink at plenty of Vegas restaurants for $35.

Well I wasn't expecting Gordon Ramsey to cook for me but I'm sure we can manage! There is always fast food as a fall back :s
