  • I had to walk 2 miles up hill in the snow to get to The Strip.

My wife & I are going to Las Vegas in May, we think. We are driving down, so we don't have to worry about plane tickets.

I have bookmarked the thread about Hotwire/Priceline/Topsecret bidding. I'm horrifyingly cheap and that's information that I need.

But we are in our 40's. A cursory check of the posts on this board makes it seem to me that I am old enough to be the dad of the most of the posters on this board.

Should I just delete my login and go back to yelling at kids to get off my lawn?

Or can I post some messages to see if there are any places on the Strip or in the suburbs that have 80's Nights or something similar?

Am I the only one on this forum who has ever worn British Knights, a Member's Only Jacket or a mullet?

lol no, you'd be surprised at the age range. Most of the people here aren't quite as young as you think... gotta remember young kids tend not to have the $$$ to throw around at all the bottle service mins

though being old and cheap isn't quite the best vega combo, but there's definitely still fun to be had.

Thanks for the advice & welcome.

I guess this is like the skiing & mountain biking forums I visit. It's mostly the old guys that can afford expensive fun like carbon fiber, Deer Valley lift tickets and bottle service minimums.

I tried doing a search for "80's music" but maybe the search engine doesn't like numbers? Anyway, I couldn't find anything. I don't want to post a new question if it's a topic that's already been beaten to death.

Or worse yet, that no one is interested in.

South Point seems to have an 80's cover band and I noticed that the Aria has an 80's event. Anywhere else? We'll have our car with us so we can drive out to the suburbs.

Gold lounge at aria has 80's night every Friday, not sure where else. None of the major clubs really ever have Retro nights afaik, maybe some of the bars?

You might enjoy Carnival Court, though I think they are ripping that apart for the new Observation Wheel this year.

Plan to not be cheap. If spending cash makes you have a bad time just because of the spending, Vegas might be uncomfortable for you.

Sure you can do it cheap.... but why even go?
You can do it in a sane way with a bit of research and compromise and be happy about it.

Thanks, Laidback. It looks like Carnaval Court has an 80's band.

But its listings on Harrah's website doesn't go past March.

People on this site are going to think I'm crazy. But I have one fairly expensive mountain biking and kayaking tour planned. Yes, we are going to get up at about 6 AM in Las Vegas, go to the one city in Nevada that doesn't allow gambling and go exercise.

So I wanted to use this site to find a club or more likely a bar or a lounge that we would really enjoy and get our money's worth from before the long drive back.

And if you wore Dittos and had your hair in bangs so high that you threatened low-flying aircraft; I would also appreciate your viewpoint.

Age is all relative to how you FEEEL...besides, I think of Vegas as sort of a fountain of youth/Neverland.

                              Have fun Peter Pan.
