Going to try the grocery deliver from Vons this trip. Got a couple questions for those of you who have used it before. Will they deliver the groceries to your hotel room, or do you have to meet them outside and carry them in yourself? If you have to meet them outside, where do you have them park? They don't just cruise up to the valet I would assume. Is the hotel ok with grocery delivery (specifically alcohol), or do you need to sneak everything in?

Specifically, we're going to be at the Monte Carlo with a pretty large order. Any tips on how to deal with this when the driver pulls up? Thanks

edit: sorry if this has been a repost, I couldn't find anything this specific when I searched. Also just realized this is in the totally wrong forum! Meant to put in General Discussion...

I have done it twice. The hotel is usually not too happy with it but they have never stopped me. I've had to stand my ground and tell them "Look, it is already done and I can't return the groceries. Deal with it." I mean, what are they going to do? If you have to, tip them a few bucks to tell them not to worry about it. Just dont make a big deal about it. That being said, both times I had the truck stop at ground level in the parking garage nearby and grabbed a bellhop's cart to bring them up. If you don't order too much you can sneak it in to avoid the hassle. If that were the case though, I usually have the cab stop by the Vons on E. Tropicana and keep the meter going while I run in and grab some items.

I have never done it at the MC, but if you are worried about it you can call them to see what their policy is (might not want to give them your name or give them a fake name just in case) but I have never heard of a hotel not allowing outside food/ beverage in (actually I have, but never seen it enforced). The driver will deliver it to the room if you ask them (usually).

As always... ask for forgiveness, not permission.

I would think you would get less of a hassle at like Elara than you would (at a hotel at least I hope so, since I plan on getting a delivery there). But like stated above, forgiveness, not permission.

I just did this at Cosmo on my trip, it wasn't really a big problem. The delivery guy warned that the hotel HATES it, as did the guy from the bell desk who was helping me. But I tipped well and moved fast, so it wasn't a big deal. According to one of my friends who landed earlier than I did, there were some guys having a problem before I got there because they were bringing in a lot of alcohol (about 12 cases of beer, lots of handles, just from glancing), but I don't even think they had delivery, they were just carrying it. And I don't know what the otucome of that was, but I can't see them making you throw things away. Anyway, we had to hike ALL the way through to the East Tower and no one stopped us.

In any case, the guy from the bell desk said that one good idea is to bring some reusable bags if we have them to put the grocery bags in, because then it looks better going through the lobby. But really, what are they gonna do? Especially at the Cosmo- we had a full kitchen!
I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

I did this at the Cosmo. Same experience. Just say "I full kitchen and I plan to cook some gourmet food so I can spend all my money in their casino."

Word. I figured I'd just empty my duffel bag and and grab another suitcase and shove everything in there. Walking through the lobby I'll look like just another guest. I was thinking the parking garage too, so it sounds like I'll just have him pull in there. Thanks for the responses

I know I am arriving to the party a little late, but I just found this thread and thought I would add my two cents here for anyone searching and needing this info. I actually deliver groceries to the resorts in Las Vegas and have found that most resorts don't say anything. The timeshares (Marriott, Grandview, Tahiti Villiage, MGM Signature, etc) are much better about it than the main resorts on the strip. In fact, the timeshares have sent their guests to me who have inquired with the front desk or concierge. That said, the majority of my deliveries are still to the "big" resorts on the strip (MGM, Paris, NYNY, Mirage, etc). I have delivered to the front lobbies/check-in desks and parking garages. Rarely will anyone say anything but we are fast. I have a cart with a tote that I use to bring the groceries in and my customers will bring their biggest suitcase with wheels downstairs with them. We transfer the groceries into their suitcase and we are both on our way. Which reminds me...resorts will not let delivery personnel to the rooms for security reasons - this is actually a good thing. Many of my customers asks if we can deliver to the room, and 99% of resorts will not allow us to do that. There is 1 resort that will, but we have made it a policy to just meet downstairs (Lobby or Parking Garage depending on events, traffic, etc). If you need any other information, please don't hesitate to ask. You can email me at [email protected].
