Just got back this morning from a weekend that exceeded my expectations. Thought I’d write up a quick long summary to share my experience. Went from Friday June 22 to Sunday June 24 with just one friend. This was my first time back in Vegas in 10 years (last time I was around 12), so first real time. Hopefully there’s some info in here that can help out some people with questions that I know I sure had before this such as tips, food, dress, tickets, shows etc.
Friday:
(morning)
Early morning flight from New York and arrive in Vegas around 10:30am. Head to the cab line but it’s long, way longer than I expected. My friend grabs me and says no way, let’s get a private car. Me being cheap I protest but he insists he’ll take care of it (it was after this I started to realize how expensive Vegas is, so I forget my self imposed limit and spend…all worth it). We get a cozy sedan and instruct the driver to first hit up liquor store. Was under the impression that buying a bottle off the strip would be easier and cheaper. However we soon saw there are plenty of stores that sell liquor such as wallgreens for the same price. We get to Caesars around 11:00am expecting to not be able to check in till at least 2 but they had a room ready. We thought about trying the sandwich trick but decided not to after it seemed that the only next upgrade available would be a small suite and a couple of 20s wouldn’t do it.
(afternoon and show)
We get in the room and start to hit up the casinos and get some food. Went to Cabo Wabo I think it was called. Not terrible but there are better places. We head to the Bellagio to see if there are tickets for O available. Should have gotten them before hand but got lazy. Ended up working out since we got side balcony tickets for 120 each. Show was pretty god but anti climatic. I recommend seeing it if you get a deal or have the money to blow. Continue taking full advantage of drinking out in the open and find some food before the club. We we’re thinking of getting a table but that didn’t pan out.

We got tickets to Diplo at Surrender from wanttickets.com We get there a bit after 11 and there’s a pretty long line. We ask one of the bouncers where’s the wanttickets line but it seems all the lines mesh into one. However he puts us pass a huge line to the front of the first one. We didn’t have money out or anything but since it was just the 2 of us and we asked he helps us out. There are 2 GA lines next to each other and there’s 10 guys in front of us but our line doesn’t move for like 15 minutes. Unbeknownst to me, my friend takes a Jackson and has it poke out of the printed want ticket. Doorman walks over, makes sure we have tickets and asks if it’s just us 2. My friend handshakes and we’re in. Surrender by passes by expectations, I didn’t know it was the nighttime EBC. Diplo shuts the place down. 6 hours felt like 1.
Saturday:
Relaxing day. Hung by the Caesars pool most of the day since I was too hungover to go a pool party. That paid off since I was able to research some baseballs games. 50 dollar 4-game parlay profited a bit over 600. Although I sweated it out (Saturdays Giants box score). Uneventful day spent gambling at various casinos, eating, sightseeing etc. Finally night rolls around and it time for XS with Morgan page. Once again we bought presale off wanttickets which was a good move. The first time took around 15 minutes and that had everyone in GA in it. The second line was for people with tickets and bypassed a line in a room that must have taken at least an hour to get through. XS was packed. Annoyingly packed I must admit but still enjoyable. We met up with Almontas from the forums after talking on connect and we all chilled for a couple of hours. Page was incredible but we bailed earlier than later with an early checkout.
Sunday:
Checkout of Caesars and head to EBC around 12. It was empty at first so we got right in. Once again we had presale so that helped. Good time. Stayed for a few hours and bounced. Put in some long term sports bets (Go Jets) and headed back home.
Didn’t take as many pictures and videos as I would have liked but I’m putting together a quick video which will hopefully be up later tonight.
