  • Jealous of everyone within driving distance

I'm from the east coast (Boston), so I don't get out there as often as I'd like (but at least I'm within driving distance of NYC, though not the same at all). I just love reading about all you SoCal folks who can just head there on weekends.

Although, come to think of it, I'd be broke if I lived near Vegas. LOL

    Its good and bad. LOL.
Its nice to be close to it but being that easily accessible, the temptation to go is so much more. Our trips arent as long so we may not get burnt out that much on 1 trip, but each 2day/weekend trip always leaves you wanting for more. Especially when that weekend turns out so fuckin awesome.

Right now, I'm having withdrawals and I couldnt really do work properly the first 2 days back. haha. Im self employed with my own business so that makes it harder to get back into the groove since no one is making me do work or putting me on a schedule. I had to make myself get some work done today and that finally put me back into the routine. LOL.

I was hanging out with some girl from NJ at Surrender this weekend and I asked her about NYC clubs and she said its not even comparable. I wanted to check them out later this year when I'm in town for a few days on business, but she said, the line ups we have at Vegas isnt even the same.

I'd love to be able to do Vegas weekends on a regular basis. Problem is, if I leave early Saturday morning, I'd get about 6 hours on the ground in Vegas, before having to get back on a flight to be home by Monday morning. Almost enough time to do 1 pool party.

I'm on the East Coast too, but Vegas is an annual escape for me so I spend January thru June planning, packing, shopping and talking about "my Vegas trip" and how it's going to the be the bomb and better than last year.....here comes July! I get to Vegas! It's over in a flash...and then I spend August thru December talking about my recent trip to Vegas and how it was better than anyone else's trip to Cancun, D.R. Or Puerto Rico....it's like my personal "Ground Hog Day" just without Bill Murray....sigh

^^ We usually do Cancun(more of Playa Del Carmen), Puerto Rico or other Carribean islands as a get away from going to Vegas too much. LOL. Need a break from it once in a while. haha.

I can definitely see the bad side of it. Lol. I haven't been to Vegas in about 4 years but now that I'm single again, I think I'll make it a yearly event. :-)

And yes, NYC is better than Boston as far as night life, but pales in comparison to Vegas. So I wouldn't recommend going if that's your only objective.

I'm within driving dist but since I work very early on Mondays and prefer to leave Vegas on Sunday nights to avoid traffic, I can't go as often as I like. Mostly holiday weekends and weekends that I pre-request Monday off of work.

I'm going MDW and in October for sure this year, gonna try and sneak in another weekend during the summer. I went 5 times last year.

East Coasters need to go twice per year. We just added a second trip. May and August.

If I lived within 6 hours (driving) from Vegas, I think I would get really sick of the strip within a year. I would also get sick of my friends and their friends who think I'm some sort of sin city ambassador.
                        I just don't give a shit.

It is normally a 12hr drive from Denver, but I have done it in just over 10hrs.
If I was coming with 4 people from Colorado who all had more than a week off, driving is an option from here. Because gas will be $300 - $400 total and airfare would run about $800 (good deal) - $1200 total. But that drive home after the fun is agonizing.
But since I am normally taking less than a week off and my group comes in on different days, we just fly. Its a quick flight and I always find deals for about $200/RT.

Scooner, I think I'm opposite. We tend to not go on the bigger weekends like MDW or Labor Day. We did go on alot of "off" weekends during the summer, but since it was summer almost all weekends were pretty busy so it was still good times. I think we did 8 trips between June to Sept last year. I dont think I'm going to do that again this year. LOL. I just didnt have much planned last summer so it was just too easy to go to Vegas.

What someone mentioned about getting sick of the strip, it seems like it can happen, but you have to just make each trip different. Try out different restaurants. Switch up the hotels you stay at so it doesnt get old.

I grew up going to Vegas on a quarterly basis since I was probably 8y/o. Of course things changed as I lived on my own, made my own money, turned 21. Things changed even more as I made MORE money, got married, and had kids. Then it changed even more as I got into EDM and have alot of business trips in Vegas. So I guess as I reinvented myself, Vegas changed to be different through the years as well. So after 100+ trips, 20+ just the last 2 years, it still is fun to go as if it was my first time being there.

All I can say is, its hard to leave and even harder to recover during the first few days of coming back.

Now that I think about it more, if I lived close, I would probably do bottle service more often, as I would be able to focus on one weekend at a time, instead of stretching a budget over 5 or 6 days. Getting more friends to come would be a lot easier as well. Without airfare, baggage fees, extra nights, etc. it would be a much different trip than I'm used to, even if my income didn't change.

You're right about switching it up. I always want to stay at different hotels that I know won't compare to the places I've stayed. I don't mean the ones that charge by the hour; but just ones that people don't rave about yet would be decent in just about any other city. I only get down there once or twice a year so I don't want to risk it too much at this time.
