  • Mid-week destinations in USA

Me and my mates are coming to USA for a bachelor trip; Starting off in LV then Miami, Playa del Carmen which finishes up on 6th April. Our flight back to Australia is on the 15th April from LA and I have that 9 days to fill. Any ideas where?

I've heard Austin Texas is fun, Montreal would be good but too far from Playa.

New Orleans...assuming your liver can handle it.

    Austin, Nashville both good options.

Additionally, most ski resorts in Colorado / Utah may still be open (Breckenridge, Tahoe, Telluride, etc). Surely there'd be a few ski bunnies still on the slopes in early April.

having been to vegas, miami and playa/cancun
When people say vegas is the entertainment capital of the world, adult disneyland etc I think your going to see the difference between the cities pretty easily. Vegas has the biggest nightclubs/pool parties and the casino resorts are constantly trying to one up the other.

Miami has the beach but the clubs are smaller.
Cancun has the beach but hotels like to keep people on property with that all inclusive stuff.
Playa has the beach and walkable town.

Realize Ultra Music Festival in Miami this year March 27,28,29 probably one of the craziest weekends in miami all year.

For somewhere to visit after Playa-
      1. go back to vegas- easiest choice
      2. Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA is April 10-12- music festival choice
      3. cuba- you can get flights from Cancun-don't expect crazy nightclubs- probably most adventurous choice
      4. austin, dallas, phoenix- all have nightclubs but nowhere near the level of vegas- would probably skip

My suggestions are San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara. Great places with good weather, nice beaches, good nightlife.

I think San Diego and Sam fran will be our top choices at the moment... I've been to San Diego mid-week and it was pretty dead. But then again, i didnt really know anything about the city when i was there.

I might be in San Diego on a Tuesday in late August - any recommendations for bars/clubs/areas of town that might be busy??
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Downtown/Gaslamp district. It's an area with a lot of bars and restaurants, particularly 5th street.

I've been to a few spots midweek in the US.

Austin is great - but midweek you gotta know where to go. Same applies to most US cities. What you want is a place where people are on vacay. Miami is very well worth thinking about.

Now the thing you have going for you is that youll hit the back end of Spring Break in early april, check the calendars for which colleges are spring breaking in your time. You may be way over college age, but the one thing you can guarantee is that it will be busy every night.

So - if thats what you want, the spring break places are where I would look at first. Cancun and Punta Cana would be the bet.

If thats not your thing, then you have Cabo which is a great spot at that time of year and is always a blast, not far from Cali either only an hours flight.

Failing that, Caribbean where its bouncing every night. Personally I love Barbados. If you want more americans and a casino/high end scene then you gotta be hitting Nassau in the Bahamas and hitting it hard.

If it were me I would go 1. Bahamas 2. Cabo. 3. Barbados

Ive been spring break loads of times, and Cancun is a man zone in March, would probably have thinned out come april, but beware of that!

If you are looking specifically for mid-week party fun I would probably skip San Fran, the tech crowd (I'm included) that lives there tends to keep its partying to the weekend unless you are looking for a happy hour. I agree with Tomm you should probably look at places where people vacation, so either stay in Mexico/Caribbean or look maybe at the beach resorts along the coasts of the US (South Padre Island, San Diego, etc.). New Orleans might also be an option as that town from my experiences in the past is partying during the week too.

Try to reach Mtl, it will be worth your time… great nightlife, and approachable/beautiful women. However weekdays aren't great in Montreal, Friday-Sundays are best.
I plan bachelor parties in Montreal (montrelnitelife)
