Too soon to book a hotel for EDC 2015?

Looking to make my 1st trip to EDC. I looked at a few hotels that have their calendars open already and wanted to get a head start on booking. I know EDC has fell around June 18-23 for the last few years. So I'm assuming EDC will be Jun 19-21 for 2015. What do you think of my strategy. If the date is wrong when its announced then Ill have to cancel that room and book a much more expensive rate i assume elsewhere. Has anyone tried this before and been correct ? lol

I booked 3 weekends for next year already at MGM... they only take night deposit anyways and can be refunded if canceled in time. I consider it a savings account lol.

1. usually the date is announced around early November
2. I think its really likely 2015 is two weekends probably 6/19-22 and 6/26-28
3. If your looking for festivals in vegas to checkout before then

Rock in Rio in May 2015 is going to be pretty good they are aiming for 80,000 a day.

Doesn't hurt - the reservation should be totally refundable anyway!

So being that I don't plan to do the Vegas experience while EDc is going on, Im thinking ill just book a basic queen room at a Luxor, excalibur, or somewhere in that range. I pan to be there all night and sleep during the day then back at it. Ill be back on March anyways to party Vegas style. Ill be booking the deposit soon fellas! Excited as this will be my first!

2 years ago EDC was June 8-10 so don't assume it will be the same weekend. having said that as long as you don't mind paying the deposit now no reason to not go ahead and book (and maybe more than 1 weekend!).

Yea might as well get that deposit in. So what would you choose between Harrahs basic queen room and Excaliburs queen room?
Not looking for anything classy. Just somewhere to shower and lay my head.

and two years ago Saturday night was canceled because of wind- the date was pushed back because the winds are calmer later in June and also because some people had school conflicts so Pasquale pushed it back

just saying don't put all your eggs in one basket. of course booking the same weekend as last year makes sense. but might be good to add 1-2 weekends on top as well in case the dates are changed for whatever reason. It was a bit windy this year as well on I think Sat night - i had flashbacks to that night 2 years ago where they stopped the party early!

btw, it seems as though in a few month you'll be able to project the EDC weekend just by looking at room rates in June as one weekend will stick out as being higher and you could infer that is the right weekend.

yes - same djs each weekend like Ultra did last year Coachella does now. Pasquale has tossed out the idea of maybe doing it next year... but far from guaranteed.

this year they had a shuttle pickup behind the Linq which is right by Harrah's. traffic was a bit rough friday night but smooth the rest of the time.
