I went last year ith my BF and we're going again this year. We rented a car last year and are definitely doing the same this year, but he doesn't really drink so that's not an issue. He'll probably have 1 drink the entire 5 days that we are there. I bought a 3 day pass last year in Jan for myself and had to pay more for his off craigslist in May/June. this year we both our two 3 day passes in Jan. iIRC, they did sell 2day and 1 day passes much later on and closer to the actualy event. If they sellout via 3day passes though then that may not be an option.

Last years experience with getting there:
Friday, our flight landed ST like 9 or 10p, had a huge issue with the rental car, finally got everything sorted out and checked into the hotel around midnight. We changed and left for EDC. There was traffic, but it wasn't terrible, maybe and 1-1.5hrs max. We left a little around 3/330a early since we were exhausted from work and traveling and getting back honestly wasn't bad. Maybe an hour maximum.

Saturday was an effin disaster. I think we left at like 9p and st in traffic for like 3 hours. We get there and they close down EDZc because of a sand storm. We RAN out of there as soon as they announced it, but still sat in about 2.5hrs or more of traffic on the way back.

Sunday was better. We left a little earlier, but I think a lot of peopl also had to leave by that point. There was still traffic but less than Saturday. A 1.5-2hrs maybe. We a bit early this night too and I don't recall any problems getting out of there that night.

Overall, we are definitely renting a car again. We are definitely leaving our hotel early and not staying til the end of the night. I'm sorry, but nothing is worth 3+hours of traffic each way. Just remember where you parked because it can be a bitch to find your car! The shuttle looked a mess, but probably is the best choice if you don't want to rent a car. I know a lot of cabs stopped driving out there because of the traffic. Limos might be an option, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rates go up that weekend.i

I went last year with my wife and we're going again this year. I heard this year the shuttle busses will have designated lanes to the Speedway which should cut down the travel time. We took a cab on Friday and it took almost an hour just to find a cabbie that would head out to the Speedway. Their beef is that they have to come back with an empty cab. We sat in traffic for almost 2 hours. Saturday we rented a van with the group we went with and we sat in traffic for 3 hours just to be turned away because of the wind. Sunday was not bad at all. I think a lot of people were burned out by then given the hassles and raging hard. Anyways, i might be interested in selling our Sunday night tickets since we will be hitting up Marquee to see Kaskade sunday morning. Once the lineups get released I will decide for sure. If you remember, just hit me up when its closer to June. I'll make the transaction legit so you have no worries of being scammed. I hope to see you all there lookin crazy and raging hard as fuck.
