Stolen Wallet Issue

So not good. My sister in law is coming out with us first weekend in March. She just got her whole wallet stolen. For whatever reason she doesn't have her original birth certificate. No passport. She needs to get a new certified birth certificate so she can get a new license.

Worst case scenario, she can't get a new ID by the time we leave. Is she totally screwed? She's turning 40 so it's not like everywhere we go people will think she's under 21. Damn, I feel bad for the woman.

On a serious note, are you all flying? If so, that would be the biggest problem.

TSA's site:

"Not having an ID, does not necessarily mean a passenger won't be allowed to fly. If passengers are willing to provide additional information, we have other means of substantiating someone's identity, like using publicly available databases.

Passengers who are cleared through this process may be subject to additional screening. Passengers whose identity cannot be verified by TSA may not be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint or onto an airplane."

If she can show TSA a police report regarding the stolen wallet, she should have nothing to worry about.

Flying won't be an issue so long as she gets there early and goes through extra screening. Sister had the same problem for a trip to NYC last Christmas, she got through security no problem with a little bit extra screening.

Is showing your birth certificate for a replacement license an Arizona thing? In Massachusetts you can just request a replacement online for like $25 and it comes pretty quickly.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think we found a way to fix it! We had her mom request the certified BC. That way she can get the BC soon and then go get the ID. Timing should be just right!
