I played with the Jambox, Solemate, Big Jambox and Bose Soundlink. I didn't think the Jambox & Solemate had quite enough oomph for me, thought the Bose had the best high end quality, but ended up buying the Big Jambox for it's better bass.
It's not perfect; you can turn it up loud enough that you distort the sound, but that is almost painfully loud.
Hit up a Best Buy and try them out for yourself though; most of the Best Buys I've seen have had them out to play with and hooked up with some preset music to try on them.Comment
