Yesterday I get a tip from my buddy Dnix. He's a sharp bettor on the horses, really know his stuff. He's got a bad shoulder right now so he has to go to physio everyday. Anyway, his Doctor also works with some horse trainers and gets them steroids to give the horses. This gets him in tight with the trainers and he gets great tips. He passes those along to Dnix who gives them to me.
Dnix had a great tip on for a race at The Meadowlands today and I just unloaded. Well, guess what...the goddamn horse lost and I now owe some books $20K by Monday. All my money is tied up in the Chinese restaurant I bought into with Cisco. I own 30% of the store but basically we use it to funnel gambling winnings through the business.
Well since I dont have any money I'm leaving town. Cant take a chance of getting killed by the bookies.
I pack lightly thankfully and this will be my last post tonight. I am taking my van to another area of the country to settle. I am basically tired of Newark, anyway. I will have lots of memories here but it is time to move on. Hey we had fun and no better place to find gambling wise guys. Here is what I will miss.
1. Hitting baseballs into apartment buildings to check wind directions so we could bet baseball totals.
2. Hanging out with the guys on the corners with toothpicks in our mouths talking about girls.
3. Waiting in lines at banks for loans with my boys to settle up with the bookies
4. Going to Meadowlands Racetrack with my High School buds
5. Running sprints in the middle of Jefferson Street
6. Jogging with like 15-20 guys in the AM talking about the games
7. Wearing my bow and arrow around the streets of Newark
8. Hitting the Jazz clubs with my mink on
9. Finally the greatest weekly event of them all is when I would throw bubble gum (bazookas) from the top of my roof to all the kids, especially when I made a score.
The Van is fired up and running. I'll update from the Road!
