  • Reno - Tahoe Recommendations? MontBleu Pool Party?

First time out to Reno-Tahoe area this week for a nice long ski trip. Will be staying @ Harrah's on the South Shore of the lake, looking for any not-to-miss restaurants/bars/nightclubs/etc.

Does anyone know anything about the MontBleu Saturday Pool Party ("Onsen Beach" - INDOORS!) - looks pretty cool - Ted Johanson is a listed host?

Mostly going for the skiing but hey a little mini-Vegas experience and pregame for mAyOD is a nice plus!

    Thanks for any info

    ~Mike

Get bottle service every night at vex at harrahs not kidding, heavenly on the south shore and drive to the north side of the lake and hit Northstar. Also pray for snow, I went 2 weekends ago, we need it. If the conditions suck rent mountain bikes and hit the pathways and trails around the lake, dress warm, the views you will never forget. I have never done a pool party in Tahoe ....so can't help you there.

Thanks! We'll check out VEX for sure.

It was snowing this morning at NorthStar and the overall forecast is looking pretty good!

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MONDAY WILL BE ISSUED SHORTLY FOR THE
TAHOE BASIN, WITH HIGHER SNOW RATIOS AND MODERATE SNOW AMOUNTS
LOOKING LIKE 4-6" AT LAKE LEVEL AND 8-12" ABOVE 7000 FEET.

We'll be skiing Mt. Rose, Northstar, Sqaw, Heavenly, and Kirkwood for sure, maybe Alpine Meadows/Sierra@Tahoe

We got some decent snow these past couple of days...So you should be good to go (hopefully). This year has been horrible for our resorts!

Anyways, if your looking for an outstanding meal try Cafe Fiore...Its a little high end but well worth it...for breakfast go to Heidi's! Great breakfast food and not far from where your staying...

Thanks for all the input, it was a great time. Stayed at Harrah's the whole time and enjoyed skiing Mt. Rose and Northstar with a foot of new powder, amazing! Tried Squaw one day but was closed due to high winds so found some fun diversions in Reno instead... then Kirkwood, back to Squaw, Alpine Meadows all good but crowded for the weekend... then bliss - another big storm gave us massive freshies for Mon/Tues at Heavenly, saving the best for last!

Tried to get into Cafe' Fiore but had a long wait, and not on OpenTable... good news, the place right next door - Nepheles - was most excellent!

Sadly learned the MontBleu was no longer doing pool parties due to lack of snow/people... Vex and the various rooftop lounges were running limited hours as well. Had the most fun playing blackjack with the Cabo Wabo girls downstairs by the Cantina, checking out that club's various bands and DJ's throughout the week, etc.

Great trip overall and a nice warm up for the full Vegas invasion just a couple of months away!
