  • question about comped drinks while gambling?

So I know the whole deal with the drinks, tipping and all that, but anyone have any experiences in getting shots from the waitresses vs. drinks?

they don't care.. if you really want to do a shot of well brand vodka, I'm sure they'll bring you one...

as with anything in Vegas, a tip up front will get what you want.

A $5 tip for the first drink will place you higher on the cocktail waitress' priority list. After that, $2 or $3 per drink if the service is good and she checks on me often... also depends on how well I'm doing at the table. If the service is slow, $1 tip per drink. This has worked well for me at O'Sheas, Bill's, Flamingo, and even Cosmo. I usually order redbull vodka or jager, screwdrivers, vodka sprite, rum & coke.

buyer beware when ordering cocktails.. I've had plenty of Redbulls with a splash of Vodka. Although 12oz. of redbull is probably more expensive than 12oz. of their well, so I don't complain as much.

You generally speaking can have what you want if you tip well/ play higher limits. I know at wynn st a 10$ craps table we were ordering patron shots like it was going outta style, but taking care of our waitress as well.

Dang, I always go with the 1$ tips, granted I'm usually only on nickel or 10$ craps table. Hope I haven't been looking like a tight wad all this time :/

it's better than nothing. I usually tip $2 considering you'd normally pay $9-$12 if you bought the drink at the bar

Agreed on the $5 to start... you usually won't ever have an empty, even in a top place, oh and I order Jager shots ALL the time. Never had a problem.

At every place in Vegas except Wynn.
                        1. Go to a bar
                        2. Put minimum $20 in the machine at the bar.
                        3. Play the machine - make eye contact with bartender.
                        4. Order almost anything you can think of.
                        5. Tip your bartender, enjoy your free drink.
                        6. Repeat multiple times!

What about slot machines? how does it work for slot machines? Also, can you play anything on the floor, and a waitress will come to you, or do you need to wave them down? We arrive next Saturday, and I don't want to look like I have no idea whats going on!

The waitresses will be walking around. Usually, they just walk up to you and ask you if you would like a drink. Seems like the waitresses came by more often when I was playing table games though.

On slot machines there are ways to increase your chances of a server seeing you more often. Sit near the bar where they pick up drinks, sit on a more major walkway, and when they do get to you tip well. This doesnt mean you dont get good service if you are in the corner by yourself playing a penny slot either.
