August 11th - 15th Trip Report

Despite having a complete itinerary set up for my brothers bachelor party of 9; Our trip went everything but accordingly. There really wasn't one specific reason for this, but more or less a combonation of issues. Whether it was some peoples lack of funds, my lack of reservations, the alcohol, the alcohol, or the alcohol, there was always an issue.

All that being said, we had our share of fun and wouldn't change much, if anything about the trip.

Thursday, August 11th

Didn't have a whole lot planned our first night there, it was just me and one other buddy arriving at 8PM and wasn't sure if jet lag would play any part in making plans. Check-in to the MGM via the airport was a cinch, and we were on our ways in no time. We weren't expecting a whole lot in regards to our room, but was more than content for the two of us. Despite a lot of roof view, we also had an awesome view of New York, New York.

Having had picked up a bottle of SoCo on our way to the room, we got the night started with some shots and drinks. My original itinerary called for dinner at Tao and the nightclub stamp. Being we were already so liquored up, we decided to skip dinner and just attempt general admission. Upon arrival, we realized how overwhelming the line was and how impossible it was going to be to get in. We walked down to LAVO and talked to the hostess and she said it wasn't too late to make dinner reservations and get the stamp. She made our res and we were back upstairs and into Tao. Thinking we outwitted the crowed by being able to walk right in, my buddy decided he wasn't going to do dinner anymore now that we were there. It wasn't long before we were put right back in our place by getting rejected from getting upstairs, we decided to just hit the resturant bar for the night, and that's when things became blurry. At some point we tried to steal a gondula and got kicked out of Venetian and the next thing I remember is being woken up by a stripper asking me if I
was sleeping, at this point, I realized it was time to call it a night.

Friday, August 12th

Somehow we managed to wake up earlier than we could ever have planned. The rest of our party was flying in today, so we decided to hit the pool until their arrival. Not feeling quite up to it, we decided to skip Wet Republic and just lay pool side. It wasn't too long before more people started to show up and we were conversing with people from every which way of the world. My buddy had a local friend who met us up, so the three of us headed back to our room for some more drinks. It wasn't long before I realized it was time for me to leave, so I headed up to greet the rest of the guys while my buddy took care of business. I drank just enough before I left my room for things to start getting blurry..

I don't recall too much between greeting the guys and being woken up by them hours later in the day(but later heard a few stories of my ridiculous antics.) When I finally got out of bed for the second time today, we went back down to the pool and wasted no time mingling with all the patrons in the "lazy river". We met an awesome group of girls that were in from Cali to celebrate one of their "Dirty 30s"; Whilst chatting with them, we ended up stumbling into the bachelor and another buddy who we lost earlier in the day. It was pretty obvious he needed to be walked back up to his room for some rest before the rest of the night.

Fast forward to later in the night; We get dressed and meet the guys in their room; To my surprise, the girls from earlier as well as old friends from back home are all in the room. Apparently half of the group made plans with our old friends and the other half made plans with the girls to go out. I opted to hang out with the ladies for the night and we all headed down for some drinks at one of the small in-casino/hotel bars. Everything was flowing really well, except that I somehow ended up getting into a conversation about my relationship at home. I didn't mind much, as I really had no intentions with the ladies, but it was Vegas afterall and that was the last subject I'd expect to be talking about. Some more of the girls friends met us up at the bar, and they invited us out for BS with them. We ended up opting out since they were kind of creeped out by my cousins excessive groping and seemed a little over us as a group because of this. I said my farewells with them, and in the proccess lost the rest of my group in the mix. I ended up sitting at a bar by myself and ended up talking to some girl who lost her phone. Caught a cab back to the MGM and called it a night.

Saturday, August 13th

Given how none of the plans on my itinerary had been accomplished, I decided today I was going to make a real effort in getting things going. I woke up and everyone was already out doing their own thing, once I finally scrounged everyone together, we headed to The Gun Store for some range time. While it took us what seemed forever to finally get shooting, it was an absolutely awesome experience and I am already looking to get my pistol license back home. We got back to the hotel and it was too late to book an Exotics Racing trip, so instead just told everyone to get dressed for the night, as we had a table at the Opium room in Tao.

We arrived at Tao earlier than our host asked, and the whole proccess went really well. Unfortunately we were all really sober getting in, so it took a while for us to really get the night going. Once everyone had enough alcohol in their system, things really started going good. Tons of shots, drinks, dancing, and women.. The night was a complete success and completely expect to hear about it over and over far after our trip. No clue as to what time we actually ended up leaving, but a couple of the guys went to Drais. Although I had been dying to experience it there, I opted out; Which I later regretted, as the rest of the guys ended up falling right to sleep once we got back. Hit the food court and called it a night.

Sunday, August 14th

Was hoping to again knock out some of the itinerary.. But was already off schedule as everyone was still feeling the nights prior alcohol consumption. Skydiving plans were a bust, so we just decided to do our own thing until our show later that night. We couldn't find tickets to Love, so I convinced everyone to see Absinthe at Ceasers. I wasn't quite sure what to expect myself, so was completely worried about the hard to please group I had. Everyone had their doubts, but in the end had an absolute blast. Probably not comparable to Cirque in terms of the acrobatics and the big production experience.. But I would strongly reccommend it to any and everyone who's out that way. After raving about the show, we decided to head back to the hotel and prepare for one last hoorah at OGs.

Wasn't sure what to expect in terms of getting BS at a stripclub, as none of us ever have before. Probably wouldn't do it again personally, but in the end, it got the job done. Wasn't really a fan of our private area at all, as I thought it was going to be a private booth, with a private stage how I've experienced in other strip clubs. This was just a couch area with shades and a table for our drinks. We actually left our private area for the rest of the night, only going back to make more drinks.

Things were better when we all took seats at the stage and were able to enjoy it as a group. We found a girl that the bachelor took a liking to and made sure he was tooken care of. While the bachelor was back at the private booth getting dances, we mingled a bit and even splurged on a bachelorette party that were sitting stage side as well.

Having a 6AM flight Monday morning, we called it an early night at around 2ish. We had the limo driver drop our group off back at the MGM, and immediately having him drive myself and a buddy to Encore for XS' Night Swim. Getting in was no problem, but we felt a little overdressed in suits and ties for sure. We mingled as much as we could and somehow got into a debate of whether or not we would jump in the pool fully suited. Needless to say, we don't back down challenges too often and rid ourselves of our electronics and took a dive. Sure, we got kicked out afterwards.. But was the perfect way to cap off our Vegas trip. Took our soaked drive back to MGM, changed, and made our 6AM flight.

How long did it take at the Gun Store to do background checks, safety shits, etc? I'd like to do that, but don't want to spend half a day there if it takes forever.

Wisco, there actually isn't any of that. We arrived at The Gun Store, there was a girl in an outside stand that broke everything down to us as far as guns, ammo, targets and their prices. She took our names and which guns we wanted down and gave us a little slip. You brought the slip inside and they gave you your ammo, you paid for your ammo, and waited in another line. Once your turn was up, you grabbed a pair of glasses and a pair of muffs and entered the range. They'd bring your gun to you one at a time, per the ammo you had. No background checks, not safety course, nothing.

Indeed, the process overall went really quick. The longest wait was after paying for everything and waiting for your actual time in the range, and I will admit; It was a wait. Mind you this was on a Saturday afternoon, so I'd have to assume this is their busier of days/hours.

If I had to make any suggestions from my one experience there, it would be to call to see when their less busier days are; As well as not underestimating how many guns/ammo you want to shoot. The range time itself went by so fast, we were actually upset that we didn't rent out any other guns or extra ammo.
