  • New Year Eve Question

A little early but have a legit question and need some advice........i have been offered a 5 night room at cosmo for Presidents day or 3 nights for NYE........from a friend

I have never ever been for New Year Eve but i can only imagine it is crazy and very expensive. I'm pretty much middle class and when i regularly go i usually plan for about 3-350 a day for eating and going out for me and my wife. thats not including shows i usually buy that before we get there. and do vip bands and stuff.

My wife thinks it will be to expensive with all the money that flys in for NYE and rather just do the 5 nights during presidents day and enjoy our selves a little more......

What do you guys think? is it super hard to get in and move around without doing bottle service cause it will only be me and my wife......does the palms still do the bands during those holidays or the ones at lavo and tao?

    Any thoughts?

I was in Vegas for last NYE, first of all it gets pretty packed/expensive than usual everywhere but when I was there for this MDW it was way worse comparing to NYE!

Now you got 2 main options for NYE in Vegas: walking around the strip along with thousands of people, they shut down the entire strip, major hotels will have firework shows. I wouldn't suggest this option due to it gets insanely packed, possibility of drama is high due to all types of people will be there.

2nd option will be clubbing, all the clubs will have special events/celebrity appearance going on, they do sale pre-sale tickets (which i would highly recommend to get it, unless if you are doing bs or grease the host with fat amount you are not getting in). Last year I did Lavo/Tao deal, it was open bar for couple hours at Lavo then after midnight we had comp entry to Tao, this worked out really well, Lavo was fun, we were able to see fireworks from the Lavo patio and open bar worked out great. And entry to Tao was smooth, by-passed insanely looking line.

So my suggestion go with the club option, considering your budget bottle service wont be a option for you, so watch out for the pre-sale tickets at clubs, whichever club you would like get their pre-sale ticket, they will announce it on their websites couple months prior to NYE.

Now with pre-sale tickets just give you a heads up, if you are going to Tier 1 clubs like Marquee, Tao, XS etc. they will be packed, so moving around wont be that easy, but they will have major DJ and it is fun. Also you have to get in line early like 9 or so, otherwise line for pre-sale tickets gets pretty insane, your entry will be guaranteed but still you can wait in the line for a good! while.

And NYE in Vegas is all pre-planning the earliest you can, get your flight and hotel booked earliest you can, if you want to hit up a club get your pre-sale tickets early. Otherwise closer it gets to NYE, it will get way more expensive and most places will sell out.

And day before and after NYE is not bad at all, just like any other night in Vegas. Actually day after the NYE i realized it was kind a slow everywhere.
