Vegas virgins - halloween 2011

Hi, I'm coming to Vegas with my 3 friends, all of us girls between 25 and 30 all from the UK. Having spent many holidays in Ibiza partying, we decided to try out Vegas.

We've never been to Vegas before so i've got tons of questions i need help answering.

We're staying at the Cosmopolitan between 28th Oct and 2nd Nov. Have i picked the right hotel? Does it have a youthful(ish) party vibe?

Ok, so i have questions about the whole bottle service thing.
- For starters we're 4 attractive females, we have our own money but is it worth getting bottle service? I've been told that being female it wasn't worth it and you often feel secluded from the rest of the club.

- The cost???? I've heard so much about taxes, tips, service charges. It's all so confusing. Bottom line 4 girls on a saturday night what's the ball park?

Clubs in general
So Halloween. What should i expect? How many costumes should i pack? Is the 31st Oct going to be the most expensive night?

Which club, which night?
So we're here friday to Wednesday with Halloween on the Monday. Which parties do we NEED to be at?

Queues???

I'm not liking the idea of 3 hour queues unless there's a really good ride at the end with a photo finish! How do we get around queuing for hours on end?

What time do we need to think about getting to a club?

Where does everyone go when the club closes? Are there any late clubs or bars worth checking out?

OK, so now tipping.
Staying at the Cosmopolitan, is it worth tipping the desk clerk for an upgrade? It's also my Birthday that weekend so what can i expect in comps?

Are concierges worth the time? I've heard of hosts but what is the difference between the 2 and which should i use to plan my night or maybe hook us up with freebies or cheap deals?
What's the standard tip to give these guys?

How much should i tip a barman in clubs/bars? In the UK i usually introduce myself, buy them a shot a few times during the night and i always get served without waiting and even get a few drinks thrown in for free.
What's the etiquette in Vegas?

Good time to go. A large AOD group will in town for Halloween craziness, I'm sure you will be able to meet quite a few people from these boards if you so choose.

Women pretty much rule Vegas and fellas with bottles/tables are always looking for fun loving ladies to hang with at said tables. Usually free drinks are to be had but guys always appreciate ladies who can take care of themselves.

So Halloween. What should i expect? How many costumes should i pack?

There will be Halloween/costume parties all weekend long. Up to you if you want to dress up everynight in costume and if so if you want to use the same costume.

Where does everyone go when the club closes?

Ladies usually come back to my room.
Drais is the afterparty of choice.

How do we get around queuing for hours on end?

Check if clubs are offering guestlists that night and get on them through the hosts listed on the site. Not sure if all clubs will offer guestlist options on Halloween weekend but groups of all girls will have first access to them.

Yeh, not a bad time to be going to Vegas for sure. Pity you miss out on the Pool Parties because they are what made my trips. Coming from a fellow Ibiza partier, its a different ball game in Vegas. The clubs are unbelievable but on a different scale than the clubs in Ibiza.

Definitely check out Surrender, XS and Marquee - coming from a Birtish perspective - those are the clubs that amazed us!

Staying at the Cosmopolitan its new and very popular. Its also very centre to the strip so you can get to wherever you need pretty quickly and easily on the strip. Despite staying at PH Towers, we found ourselves at the Wynn/Encore more often than not.

To get round queuing in Vegas, you either contact a host to get you on the guestlist, or befriend guys in the bottle service line who are willing to take you under their wings. If you are attractive girls as you say, I cant see you queuing anyways. On some occasions, the security were hand picking hot girls from the back of the queue to get straight in. Girls are what makes these clubs tick at the end of the day.

If you tip a barman a $20 on your first drink, he'll remember you and be at your beck and call so to speak.

Im sure you'll have a great time what ever you do, Vegas is addictive, ill have you warned!

Tipping is where it differs massively compared to the UK. We had to get used to the 20% gratituity on top of every bill which took a bit of getting used to. There are a few threads on here with regard to tipping the hotel desk clerk. Think its in the hotels section. But its always worth slipping a $20/$50 tip, ''sandwich'' as you check in and particularly if its your birthday!!

I think the guides on the front of the site have great detailed breakdowns of all your questions.

Concierge service is basically like hiring a guide to hang out with you all night, get you into clubs and stuff. They're stupid don't hire them.

Hosts work at clubs and get you on the guest list/ makes bottle service and table reservations. They take you through the line and to your table. Guys tip them $60-$100 for bottle service table of 4. girls might tip them to get in, if they're hot usually not.

I however like getting a table and bottle service when I'm with a bigger group. Not everyone wants to dance, and it gives you a home base to keep you hand bag or purse. And in vegas guys sometimes come to you too. A lot of hosts can offer a group of girls way cheaper bottle service then guys, and your guaranteed to skip the line.

Ps I spent halloween 2009 in downtown "old" Vegas. I had an awesome time, but I'm sure you will with whatever you do. I'm jealous.

We'll be at Vegas Oct 29 to Nov5 at Planet Hollywood.

I think you ladies will enjoy Vegas during halloween. Since you're Ibiza veterans, I think the clubs mentioned above should be your spots to see. Surrender, XS, Marquee, Haze.

We usually get bottles or get in quick since we have a promoter friend in town. But we always wing it when we get there.

Schedule for that weekend is tentative with us but here's whats happening.

Me and my friends want a different club every night and i've noticed a lot of you are going to thw same club twice.

Which are the best 5 clubs between friday 28th oct and 2nd november??

Also, we like pre drinks so can anyone recommend any bars within the casinos to start the night off with a young crowd. The last time i went to vegas we found some cool bars but there always seemed to be 40 something divorcees going through midlife crisis' sharking the bar!

Also, these dj's are foreign to me. Now i like music, especially house music, but i'm struggling to recognise any of the talent on over halloween weekend! These are not well known names in Europe, other than Deadmau5 which is too hardcore for my liking i'm a little lost.

not true , people like kaskade are VERY well known in eu , many many releases and remixes .and avicii to a certain extent too .

Also, these dj's are foreign to me. Now i like music, especially house music, but i'm struggling to recognise any of the talent on over halloween weekend! These are not well known names in Europe, other than Deadmau5 which is too hardcore for my liking i'm a little lost.
