  • Where can I rent a boat for the day?

Ok, so I know this section of the forum usually covers just the party scene, but this question didn't seem appropriate for any of the other sections either.

Usually, when I go to Vegas, my trip is based on gambling and clubbing. But, the first time we went out there, we took two days in the middle of our trip to go to Laughlin, NV and rented a boat each day to explore Lake Mead. It was a phenomenal break from the hustle and bustle of the strip. Unfortunately, this time, we won't have time to drive all the way out there. I'd still like to find a way to rent a boat for the day. I've noticed that portions of Lake Mead are only 30-ish mins from Vegas.

Does anyone know a good website or contact for daily boat rentals and information about the portion of Lake Mead closest to Vegas? I think we paid $400 for a day to rent a pontoon boat and explore the random coves and beaches near Laughlin. If nothing else, it would be a good way to sweat off some of the previous night's alcohol.

    Thanks in advance.

surprisingly, that link actually helped more than I expected.

Does anyone have any experience with these rentals? Familiar with the drive, how crowded the lake is on a Saturday, any other pertinent information?

Haha, sorry about the link ... I love using it any chance I can get..

I do not have experience with rentals around vegas, but you could make a profile and post up here
www.wakeworld.com -- lots of good knowledge on boats, I know there are a few guys from around the Vegas area who may be able to help.

Otherwise, I would suggest calling/stopping by one of these places when out there and check things out. My guess if it is a legit dealer, it should all be pretty straight forward.

My recommendation is Temple Bar, AZ. It's about 50 miles from Vegas, and it's great. You can rent boats right at their marina, and it's NEVER super packed..

Thanks for the suggestions. That pontoon boat looks sick but might be overkill if it ends up just being two of us. Also, google maps is showing Temple Bar, AZ as being 75 miles (2 hours) from the strip, not 50 as you suggested. Am I entering the wrong information?

If anyone wants to share a boat during the daytime on Saturday Aug 20, let me know.

                  If your Military

You can rent a huge 12 Passenger Pontoon Boat from Nellis Outdoor Recreation for $200. You must take and pass a boater safety test at http://www.boatus.org/onlinecourse/Nevada.asp
Nellis outdoor recreations number is (702) 652-2514
                  Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
*You gotta reserve a little bit in advance especially for big holidays.
You will also need to provide your own truck with hitch to tow. Uhaul down on Craig has rentals for 19.95 Daily. But at $200 they are the cheapest and they have 2 boats the larger one is the nicest.

Oh dang. I had looked it up online (I haven't been in a year and forgot how far it was), and it pulled up 50 miles. Now I see the 75 miles you saw, so I'm not sure what I did haha. My bad. It's still an amazing place though!
