Vdara incidental fees (or any other place for that matter)

I called up Vdara today as that's where I'm staying next week.

I was informed that there is a 130.00/day incidental fee. I asked my friend who did the booking and she said she wasn't aware of the fee. I checked the reservation letter and there was no mention of it either.

Is this normal? Do they just not tell you and then charge it when you get there?

Also, I noticed that the resort fee increased from 15.00-20.00 / day. Are there any other places that increased their resort fees? Is this a seasonal thing?

I stayed there a month ago. Daily fee is like $13 per day. $130 a day seems a mistake. As Mikey suggested they may want to do a higher than normal incidental fee if you're paying by cash (or I suppose debit) as a deposit, which is not uncommon. Then you'd get that back on checkout assuming you didn't trash the room or something.

I was there in May and was charged no such fee.

And you get something in return for your resort fees...free wifi, water bottles in the fridge, etc...
