Greasing the folks at cosmo? Has anyone tried yet? I have the 2 bed suite but maybe looking for a bigger room.

$20 will probably get you a view upgrade since it's currently the hottest hotel on the strip. I would turn it down if that's all they can offer. It'll depend on how many nights you're staying as well as what nights. I had success on a room upgrade with a $20 tip back in Feb and a $40 the following month, but the room prices have gone up quite a bit since then.
There's a good chance a $50 tip will get you a nice upgrade. If they can't accommodate you they'll hand you the tip back.Bachelor Party Aug 16-19th!

Thinking of trying the $50 handshake with a booked one bedroom there, for a Friday and Saturday night. Wonder if a $100 tip would get me a wraparound terrace? I'd do that

I wouldn't bet on it, having reading hundreds of messages of feedback about the $20 trick on frontdesktip.com, flyertalk.com, tripadvisor.com, vegasmessageboard.com and more the general consensus is that anything above $50Originally posted by anonanon View PostThinking of trying the $50 handshake with a booked one bedroom there, for a Friday and Saturday night. The upgrade you will get will the depend far more on the following factors than on the size of the tip over $20:
-Your paid rate
-Availability at check-in
-The knowledge and clout of the person upgrading you
It seems that many people strongly advice against tipping over $50 because it is unlikely to gain you anything that a smaller tip wouldn't and works against you in the future because such generous tips breaks the "tipping economy." that is the standard tip of $20 is slowly creeping upward.

Okay, i'm posting from the Cosmo in my 45th level terrace suite. I had originally booked a 1 bedroom, but tipped a $50 for the upgrade. She smiled at me, went to the manager, and managed to secure me a terrace suite.
Now for the bad parts. She originally offered me 17th floor terrace suite on the same level of Marquee. I rejected it obviously, so waited another 3 hour before they found me one on the 45th floor. They checked me in and I left my number so they could call me when the room was read.
Okay, so I head to my room with the 2 keys they already gave me when i checked in. I confirmed with the person on the phone that the keys would work on my new room. Got up there, and nothing. Went back down to the front desk, and they made me new keys, and said they would send a tech up in case it didn't work. I confirmed that they would send one regardless of key working or not. He never came.
Okay that's fine, my room is beautiful with an awesome view.
The next day, tried to turn on the TV. I think it's satellite but it didn't work whatsoever. Asked the front desk again, they said they would send a tech. An hour later, still nothing, but the TV did sort itself out about 15 min after that.
So basically, after 1 day, everything you've read about the cosmo on the forums have been true. 3 more days left, I'll keep you guys updated, well if i'm sober enough to type at 4am.
