The Girls: Joanne - The Bride-to-be, Bethan (Hellcat), Jenna (the Scarlett Harlot), Sarah (the Huntress), Lauren (Loco), Tiff (Kelly Kapowski), myself (Madame Vicious V - I'm not vicious, I swear!), Jodi (Tink), Janine (Daisy Duke), Courtney (Punky Brewster), Tammy (Honeypot), Kendall, and Heather.

Background info: Myself, Jenna, Lauren, and Tiff are all close friends and often hand out with Bethan too, Sarah is Jo's cousin who lives in Calgary, Jodi Janine and Tammy are high school friends of Jo that the rest of us didn't really know, and Courtney and Kendall are their friends that we were meeting for the first time. We planned to do a sailor theme at the pool on Saturday, so I made us all sailor hats with nicknames that Jo came up for us... it was all a surprise for her, she had no idea what the names were for, and the girls didn't know what their names were.

Heather had (emphasis on the had) huge plans do to back-to-back Vegas weekends: July 1-4, spend the week with her family and friends in Cali, then drive back out to meet us on July 8. We get a text from her on July 3 saying she was walking drunk in her monster heels, slipped off a curb and broke her foot!! So we hadn't even left yet and were already down a girl.

    Friday
The first batch of girls, Jodi, Janine, and Courtney, all arrived super early in the morning (like 10am) and Tammy was a couple hours after them. They were staying at TI so they spent the day drinking at the hotel pool. Not sure about Kendall... I don't know her personally (she was a friend of a friend on the trip), and was a last minute addition... and complained about her feet hurting, and cried about it? Weird. Anyways... I hear they had a good time, and ended the afternoon with Courtney puking in a hallway planter/garbage can like a champ.

Myself, Jo, Bethan, Jenna, Lauren and Tiff all flew in on the same flight from Bellingham arriving in Vegas at 5pm (Sarah was right behind us getting in just after 6). We ending up scoring both the exit rows and were tossing back margaritas and vodka crans in luxury with our legs stretched out. It's always such a party flying in to Vegas, love it! So we meet our limo driver at baggage claim (booked the champagne/roses airport package with Presidential)... he was this cute kid from the midwest somewhere and was asking us about Canadian indie bands, which Jo is totally into, so they were deep in music convo while we waited for bags. He took us to Vons for a liquor and snacks stop, and here was the one and only fail of the trip: we forgot our box of hard booze at the checkout! Soooo devastating. I left to grab something, told the girls to make sure buddy rings through the bottles, they mis-understood (how do you mis-understand "DON'T FORGET THE VODKA!!" ?!?? uughhh), and we left without it. No wonder the bill was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. But at least we still had champagne, beer, and coolers to keep us going. Got to the Venetian and checked into our connecting Bella suites on the 12th floor with a pool view, unpacked, had some drinks.

We had dinner resos at STK for 8pm, and with 7 girls needed to get ready, it was basically a shower/makeup/hair assembly line!! And then off to the Cosmo (such a beautiful hotel btw, definitely staying there next trip). STK was so much fun, definitely a party vibe in there (or maybe it was just us!) and the music was awesome. Details are hazy but I remember the whole restaurant singing along to Journey and the Fresh Prince theme song. Tammy had just finished a sign language course and was making up dances and getting people at tables around us up and dancing with her. Every time a group walked by to get seated, we'd high five each person. Made lots of friends, and were invited to join a group of guys at their table at Marquee after. Honestly if we could have stayed and partied at the restaurant, we totally would have haha. Oh yeah, and the food was amazing!

Tiff had set up guestlist at Marquee through a host she knows from past trips, and we were inside after just a short wait. Marquee is so ridiculously nice, and even though I knew it was three rooms, its wayyy bigger than I expected! Now as I mentioned, the bride's musical taste is more indie rock, so as much as she was down to party, she's not a big club person because she doens't like EDM. With that in mind, we headed to the bar and started pounding drinks, and then went exploring the different rooms in the club. Laughed when we saw the library room and posed for pics because the big joke with her fiance leading up to this trip was how we were going to be staying in our room doing book club readings for 2 days.

BTW, the stairs in Marquee are garbage! Tried to find the guys' table that we met at dinner, but couldn't remember their names. Fast forward a few hours and we realize Sarah is missing (she was going to the washroom wayyy earlier). They want to look for her, so Tiff and I say we'll check outside... aka we head to the back bar and keep the party going, shhh We're talking with this group of older guys there for a stag, they order us a few AMFs and then one of them starts balancing beer bottles on his head? haha. Reminded me of this old Vietnamese guy that used to be at every Vancouver rave that would balance water bottles on his head and both shoulders while busting out the dance moves. The search party gives up after about an hour and the girls are ready to go (Tiff and I are kind of dissapointed but what can you do, not our trip! We grab another drink and bounce). Turns out Sarah had stumbled as she was walking into the washroom, security saw her and thought she was super messed up (she only had 2 drinks but was really dehydrated and dizzy)... they took her vitals and wanted to send her to the hospital? But instead they X'd her stamp and kicked her out, and wouldn't let her come find us. We head back to the hotel, change, grab drinks, and go down to the casino. One of the girls gave Jo some cheesy bachelorette dice where one has actions and the other describes types of guys. We were having fun getting groups of guys to stop so Jo could do her thing, but she was hammered and was chucking the dice *at* people instead! Then when they'd finally stop rolling, she'd take one look at the guy and be like "yeah no thanks" and keep moving... so if you were the "tall guy" she was supposed to "kiss", I apologize if she insulted you haha. The rest of the night is blurry, and I'm pretty sure we hit the strip because I found a Casino Royale voucher in my purse.

    Saturday
Got the girls up, everyone was feeling rough, had a banana (they always help my hangover for some reason), get ready for the pool and then head down to Tao Beach for noon. Met Chris Traer at the door who set us up with a daybed in an awesome location close to the DJ booth and right in the middle of the action! What a stand up guy, super nice, and he came around with patron shots later. We ordered a bunch of pitchers of slushy drinks to get started (frozen redbull, blackberry mojito, and the vodka lemonade one were favorites), crowned the bride with a captains hat with a veil attached, the rest of us put our sailor hats on, and the party started picking up.

Loved how Tao Beach is smaller, it felt like a house party, and was perfect for our group! Another group of girls had a flamingo beer bong that I totally wanted to get in on but forgot. The hats were a huge hit, everyone wanted to wear them, and were calling us all by our names. The Tao pool is, well, you know... so we would go out to the regular Venetian pool to cool off in the water. Were talking with a group of guys in the pool, and then Bethan and Jodi started drunkenly professing their love for their cats. omg you should have seen these guys slowly back away from us, it was hilarious! Ladies, if you ever need to politely exit a convo with dudes you don't want to be talking to, bring up how much your feline is your best friend. Works like a charm! We get back inside to our daybed and see that apparently our group has adopted a lone Aussie guy who was in Vegas with his wife and her friends, but was having a 'single' day? Not too sure how that works, but it was fine by me since he bought us a couple bottles of goose and rounds and rounds of patron shots!! He was awesome, lots of fun, and also doubled as our bouncer getting rid of any drunk creepers that couldn't take hints. And then the rain started. This could have totally killed the party, and its almost like the place went into slow motion for a second while everyone (servers, staff, dj) decided what to do... thankfully the decision was to party even harder in the torrential downpour! Lots of people ran for cover by the bar, and some hit the pool, but others jumped up on their chairs and beds and started givin'er! Thank god for waterproof mascara! I have a video of the place going off in the rain, but Youtube is blocked at my work so I'll link it up later. My camera barely survived... had to dry it out overnight until it worked again. The rain actually made the party, it was a refreshing break from the hot sun (us Vancouver girls aren't used to this much heat!).

All 12 (or were there only 11? Eff...) of us were absolutely obliterated when we finally left and headed back to the hotel. Some went down for a well needed nap, 4 of us hit Grand Lux for food because we forgot to eat all day (mine didn't stay down, eep), napped for an hour, and then got ready for Thunder from Down Under which was totally bachelorette party appropriate (I'll spare you guys the details haha). Tao Beach killed Janine and Sarah and they didn't make it to the show. Tammy apparently flew home that evening? And I have no idea what happened to Kendall, I think she had left that morning? Walking through the hotel, people were yelling our sailor hat names left right and centre, and we had no idea who any of them were! By the time TFDU ended and we regrouped, it was after 1am, so our guestlists that we had lined up at both XS and Tryst were long expired. Jo didn't seem to be too stoked on hitting the clubs anyway, so instead we got drinks at Excalibur (god I hate that hotel!), cabbed back to Venetian, more drinks, casino, strip, Harrah's carnival court drinks, etc etc

    Sunday
Sarah had to leave in the morning to catch her flight back to Calgary, so those of us left checked out at 11 and then went for brunch at Mon Ami Gabi. Hit the bar while we waiting for our table on the patio and pounded back some delicious caesars to ease the pain. breakfast caesars are seriously the best ever, I can't believe they're a 'Canadian' drink, everyone needs to get on board with the clamato juice! As soon as our food came out, we felt a couple sprinkles of rain, and before anyone could move, it was torrential downpour #2. Eggs benny turned into eggs benny soup, and my camera, which was left out on the table, was officialy toast. The restaurant handled it so well though, moved us inside and re-ordered all of our meals and drinks. After a quick trip to Sephora in the Miracle Mile Shops, the sun came back out, so we headed back to the Venetian to chill out around the pool. Heard the music from Tao Beach calling our names, and then Tiff realized her host guy had set us up with a no-min daybed! bonehead move, can't believe we forgot about that! At this point we're down to 6 girls and only have an hour before we have to leave to catch our flight. So what do we do? pound back a few more pitchers of frozen redbulls of course! Ran into our Aussie buddy who was not single anymore and had a cabana WITH his wife and her friends. That was slightly awkward! But a few patron shots helped that situation out. Next thing I know im getting a call from our limo driving saying he's downstairs. Had a shot of goose for the road and we were on our way.

Anyone who is from Vancouver that flies out of Bellingham and hasn't learned that Allegiant Air is total and complete garbage, don't ever fly them again. This was the last time for me. 4 hour delay on the way home, and 2 other flights of theirs were delayed at the same time too. They offer no apologies, no explanations, no time frames, just 'refreshments' aka a can of pop. I'm sitting there hating life, trying to pour sprite into a glass, and my hands are shaking like crazy so its spilling everywhere... hadn't felt the alcohol withdrawal shakes since my 4 week long binge during the Olympics, so you know you had a good weekend when... And then had to drive a truckload of girls back across the border. Instead of the usual "where are you from? where were you? how long were you gone for?" questioning, the border guard takes one look us, and only says "how was Vegas?" I answer him back (have completely lost my voice) and he's tells us to "just go". Awesome.

    Next trip... Halloween?

Is it just me or a party certainly takes off when you go to Tao Beach? I think every girl in heels complains about the Marquee stairs. Also Allegiant has those $19 deals for a reason I guess I was planning my Surrey trip from Long Beach using that airline one of these days...

Trust me, it wasn't for lack of trying, we just couldn't get the groups aligned at the same place/same time!
