The closest thing to Vegas is the Borgata. They have two nightclubs (Mur.Mur and Mixx) and lots of nice restaurants. Other nightclubs you should check out-The Pool After Dark (Harrahs), Dusk (Caesars), & Providence (Tropicana).
Another place I always make sure to stop at in when I'm in AC is The White House. Lots of pictures of celebs that have eaten there on the walls and the food is very good. I also recommend Capriccio's in Resorts for Italian food. The Pier Shops are also a favorite of girls I know that frequent AC often. Hope you have a fun trip.Past Trips

Don't even waste your time, rooms are outrageous on the weekend. Its probably cheaper to just goto Vegas. But the Borgata is the closest thing to Vegas resort, however its off the strip. Ceasars is right on the beach/boardwalk nice place to stay. Dusk (ceasars) and Providence (Tropicana) are my two favorite clubs.

Here's my input:
1- Borgata is super nice (for AC) but comes with a Cosmo pricetag and is nowhere near as nice.
2- Dont go more then a block off the strip.
3- Mur.mur. & Mixx are nice, Pool at Harrahs is also nice.
4- Tropicana is a nice hotel with good food (PF Changs & Carmines) also a bar that serves 40's (if thats your thing)
5- The Pier Shops are cool
6- Dont eat the $1 hot dogs
7- Dont forget to call me so we can party.1/21 - 1/24 AFC/NFC Championship Weekend - Complete!

The hotels aren't that bad on the strip. Aside from the ones mentioned, the Hilton is pretty nice too. But you're better off staying off the strip at the Bally's & Borgata area.

I also usually have a good time at Casbah at Taj, but it can take a while for the crowd to get to where it should be. I'm usually beyond wasted when I'm at that place so that probably makes it better than it is. I definitely perfer mur.mur., but the line can get ridiculous. I didn't love the pool at Harrah's as much as most people seem too, but I'm willing to give it another shot. In terms of playing, I've had the most luck at Harrah's. I haven't been to AC in over a year though. I much prefer the 5 hour flight to Vegas than the 4 hour drive to AC. Only thing that stops me from making Vegas a weekend trip in the 3 hour time change. That would KILL me at work the next day.
edit: I usually stay at Showboat cause the room are cheaper, but they are nothing to talk about. I've stayed at Harrah's but cabbing it back & forth to the boardwalk was somewhat annoying. The Pier Sops at Caesar's are good. I LOVEEE the Continental for lunch/dinner. It's tapas style, the food is really good & it's definitely very reasonably priced. The cobb salad is my favorite.Last edited by KAM; 07-18-2011, 09:29 AM.Upcoming trips:

I live about 30 mins from AC and have a bunch of good connections down there if you need anything.
Rooms: Rooms in Atlantic City are much more expensive than other resort towns because the room inventory is much lower than say Vegas or Miami. Rooms can be had during the week for $59 to $179, and weekends will range from $199 to $499. In order from best to worst rooms/hotels: Water Club, Borgata, Taj Mahal, Caesars, Harrahs, Chelsea, Tropicana, Ballys, Showboat, Trump Plaza, Hilton, Resorts, Claridge.
Nightclubs: This varies bigtime depending on the night. I will go night by night, and show you the best club to the worst club depending on night:
Monday: mur.mur @ Borgata
Tuesday: Dusk @ Caesars
Wednesday: Pool @ Harrahs
Thursday: Providence @ Tropicana
Friday: Pool @ Harrahs, Providence @ Tropicana, Mur.Mur @ Borgata, Dusk @ Caesars, Mixx @ Borgata
Saturday: Mur.Mur @ Borgata, Dusk @ Caesars, Mixx @ Borgata, Pool @ Harrahs, Providence @ Tropicana, Casbah @ Taj Mahal, 32 Degrees at Tropicana (Late Night)
Sunday: Mixx @ Borgata
Restaurants: The unquestionable best restaurant in Atlantic City is a little BYOB place called Chef Vola's. It's in the basement of a house on a sidestreet. There is no sign, and there's 10 tables in the basement. It's Italian Food and Seafood, and it's cash only. It's almost impossible to get a reservation (especially during the summer), but I've been going there for over a year now and my name may be able to help you if you call enough in advance.
If you're looking for a lunch spot, get a sandwich from White House Sub Shop. The original location is across from Trump Plaza about 4 blocks from the ocean. They also just opened a secondary location in the Taj Mahal. It's one of the best sandwiches you'll ever have.Vegas Trips to-date:

The Hilton, Trump Plaza, and Bally's have Beach Bars during the weekend. These are literally on the beach outside the casinos. I think Bally's is the best one - they have live bands and stuff, but it's nothing like the pool parties in Vegas.Vegas Trips to-date:

Question: My wife and I love Vegas, love to gamble and have a good relationship with Harrah's Properties through Total Rewards...comped rooms, etc. We have often thought of visiting Atlantic City over Vegas. Am I stupid to think this way? I trust the opinion of my fellow JC'ers from the N.E.----should I take Atlantic City off any future plans?Easter Break 2007: Paris
Memorial Day 2008: Wynn, TI, Mandalay Bay
June 2008: Bellagio
Christmas 2008: Venetian
Easter Break 2009: Encore
Easter Break 2011: Caesars Palace
4th of July 2011: Flamingo GO room
September 2011: RIO
May 2012: Golden Nugget

I wouldn't choose Atlantic City OVER Vegas, but I'd choose Atlantic City if you're able to take an extra vacation during the course of the year.
Plan to visit Atlantic City in June, July or August, as those are the busist times and the beaches are bustling.
You will almost certainly have your rooms comped by the Harrah's properties, and here is where you should stay: Caesar's is on the boardwalk and steps from the beach. Harrah's (the second choice) is on the Marina and a 5-minute cab ride from the beach/boardwalk. You can't walk to other casinos from Harrah's.Vegas Trips to-date:
