  • Opinions on Treasure Island

Hey.... I am going to be staying at TI from July 21-28. I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

I heard it was a good spot for younger adults (Im 27) but was a little too expensive for the younger kids. So we decided to stay there. I decided to do some research and heard mixed things.

    Anyone have any experience?

Treasure Island's a decent property. Since Phil Ruffin (formally of the New Frontier) purchased the place from MGM/Mirage for cash (upwards of $750 million) a few years ago (which was right after MGM had invested significant $$$ in room remodel/upgrades), he's been steadily changing things. He's stated he's committed to serving and "older" (40's) clientel. That doesn't mean you won't find plenty of folks your age, it just means you probably won't find a group of 21 y.o. girls throwing-up in the elevators.

He's replaced expensive shops and restaurants with more "value" oriented joints. Note Gilley's and the forthcoming Senor Frog's, where the old Christian Audigier was previously located.

The location is great and plenty of fun can be found within. The pool area is a little small compared to most of the other major properties. Though they've struggled like all the rest with propping-up room rates, etc. the strong "cash" position the property finds itself in usually means they are well staffed and maintained, so service is good.

TI is good value and has a very good location. The rooms are fine but don't expect Wynn quality or anything.

Very close to WynnCore and Venetian/Palazzo for daylife/nightlife and good food

The gambling at TI can be fun. Low limits and on the weekends they have this special area with some pretty cute and entertaining dealers - http://www.gilleyslasvegas.com/girls#

+1 - My thoughts exactly. Also, beware the sound of trains if you're facing the northwest side. Didn't even know there was a track adjacent to the Strip until this past weekend.

I have stayed there twice and really like it. The renovated rooms are nice. Not in the Venetian or THEHOTEL at Mandalay bay but nice. The one thing I really liked about T.I is the beds are very comfortable.

              Guys I appreciate the feedback.

I was disappointed when I found out there party scene had gone away. However, my thought was since it was so close to Venetian Wynn and Bellagio I could probably survive.

On the flip side, I was really excited to hear there would be less kids. One thing I hated when I stayed at Excalibur (ewww) was the lack of shall we say "class" while there. Don't get me wrong Im not a snob or anything, I just don't like lounging at the pool next to a bunch of drunk 21 year olds, screaming and swearing.

Also the "excalibur" crowd, has far too many "Tapout" fans for my liking.....

Stayed there a couple months ago and was surprised how nice it was. Not as nice as other casinos but the location was amazing. Like everyone said it is basically right across the street from the Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo.
