Arrived home yesterday, from what can only be described as the best two weeks of my life. I am completely and utterly shattered, but every ounce of sweat and energy was worth it.
This isn't the typical JC report, as we weren't there for a 3 day sprint but a 336 hour marathon, and it was truly that.
We left on the 6am on 9th of June and 24 hours later arrived at the McCarran airport. This was the hardest part of the trip. Delays in Belfast, and delays in newark = hell in earth. Our presidential limo (highly recommended service) guy was waiting at baggage claim and whisked us effortlessly to the Encore.
We've stayed at the Wynn before, but even so, the beauty of the encore took us by surprise. Totally awesome tbh. I slipped the guy behind the counter a $50 in the most clumsy way possible and we got an amazing 63rd floor suite with a strip view. The room was great, but the Thursday through Sunday noise from the beach club was completely unbearable. A complete schoolboy from the wynncore team in our eyes.
After a brief moment in the room, we headed down to the bar to get aqauinted with our surroundings. 8-9 hours later we had new friends and our first Vegas sunrise of the trip. It couldn't have started better.
I am 99% sure I got approached by a hooker around 6am in the east side lounge at the encore. But she looked like beyonce in my head and the wife thinks I imagined it after 1 to many captain and cranberrys. (a taste sensation)
For those of you in the GTL thread, you'll know I have been training for Vegas. In the 8 weeks I was in training I lost 20lbs, getting to the best shape of my life. Honestly the effort I put in was totally worth it, as when we stepped to the encore pool for the first time, I felt amazing.
The encore pool is the main reason we chose the hotel. We've stayed at the Wynn before and loved it, but the encore is a little quieter and the casino smaller, so we though we would try it for a change. There is a completely different atmosphere within the hotels. We preferred the encore for the "resort" feel.
During week 1 the hotel/pool was extremely lively, the dj played pretty much every David guetta track and remix, so was to our taste. Though the pool didn't get wild, it was a great atmosphere. Week 2 was infinitely quieter but still great.
We had planned 3 big club days/nights over the break. Dj Jazzy Jeff, encore beach for Pete tongs Sunday and Diplo at rain in the palms. Because of our 33hours straight, we honeslty couldn't make jazzy Jeff on the Friday despite all good intentions.
Encore beach club - what a place! We sat down at our couch/daybed and really weren't happy with it. To be honest we would be disappointed to sit their all day. Luckily (and this is where looking after your host is critical) we spoke to Patrick and got moved to a lilypad. A much better position.
Now if you haven't been to the EBC and you are unsure or hesitant, don't be. Outside of my Nikki Beach, Marbella day club experience, this is one of the best days of my life. Pete tong and nic fancuilli were on top form. The craziest thing of the day was seeing a girl in from the start with a security anklet on. She obviously registered her address as the EBC.
Downside - didn't get papped for spy on vegas. I'm told this is quite lucky for me as I was inebriated.
We ate in great restaurants, did an unholy amount of shopping and went to Zumanity in NyNy which was inspiring. A great show if youre going to Vegas with your girlfriend....
Everyday was poolside and everyday brought new experiences. From "fake or real", to "spot the hooker" there was always something happening around you. The pool at the encore is where it's at.
Last Friday (you'll notice I skipped over a week and this is because everything in between is a hazy drunken stupor) we went to the palms and ate in n9ne followed by heading to rain.
Phillip loomis off here arranged everything for this and honeslty was a pleasure to deal with. His service and the food at n9ne were the highlights of the evening. Oh and one other surprise.
We pretty much had the worst table in n9ne, which was actually even uncomfortable to to sit at with a pole between parties. grim. The food made up for this partly as it was amazing. Phillip called in to say hi and to inform us that diplo cancelled. Gutted.
We went into rain anyway and dave fogg played a great set. You know your tipping the batman well when after our 10th-ish drink they started buying us rounds.
The surprise of the evening was getting papped by the spy on Vegas camera guy. If anyone saw the photo, I promise I was not partaking in any unmentionables, but it looks so. In fact, that was the one thing through our whole journey that was not even presented in our general direction. Not a sniff of it!!!
Found my new favourite way to lose money - Craps. Such a great game but you can lose a ton in a flash. I suppose it's reverse is why I like it. Make a ton in a few minutes.
As I remember more, I'll post it, but numerous drinks day and night has made this a totally hazy TR. Photos and vids to follow
