  • Booked the Flamingo for SEMA 2011.

My self and 3 friends just booked 2 rooms at the Flamingo for 6 nights during SEMA 2011. We wanted to stay in the middle of the strip after staying at the Luxor the 2 previous years. It cost us $2200 for hotel, air, and airport shuttle from Seattle (Oct 30-Nov 5).

We bought 20 of the $100 Vegas.com gift cards at Costco.com for $1600. Which saved us $400 right off the top. We got the Standard Deluxe rooms, but I would like to at least stay in a Non-smoking, double bed, Go Room. Any thoughts on how to ask for this upgrade for the 2 rooms? Does the Sandwich trick work for Go Rooms?

Anybody have any hook-up with the hotel clerks? I wish one would chime in to tell us what their policy is on upgrades....

It tends to be pretty hard to get upgrades at the Flamingo. I wouldn't expect an upgrade from standard deluxe to a go room even with the sandwich trick. Typically, they will just upgrade your view. I would try calling them now and just upgrading to a go room, they are much nicer, and the price would probably be less than $200 per room for your entire stay, I think its around $30 bucks more per day.

Are you getting into SEMA? Been trying to find a way in for 6 years.

That sucks.. I think I'll just wait and give it a try when we check-in. My buddies aren't willing to pay for the upgrade to the GO room. How would someone rate the standard rooms compared to the Luxor Tower Rooms?

Is there anyway he could get me in? I'd pay him.

You can always just pay for the upgrade. Last time i went the upgrade cost us $30/night which wasn't too bad. I thought it was well worth the money.

I'll ask.. it's worth a shot. But if you know somebody that works in the auto industry (ie Discount Tire, Autozone) they might be your best shot to get in.
