What is the standard for tipping hosts?

When do you normally tip them? before you get to the table or after?

    How much?

    Is the tip mandatory?

No standard, depends on table location (more premium table higher tip)
If they are walking you in, if they help reduce mins or anything

General rule but is very flexible is min of $100, some people like $100 per bottle, but it's not for everyone. Some people tip A LOT more and some people less varies by situation.

When, up to you, some people do it as they meet the host, some do it after they walk you to your table. I like after.

No tip is never mandatory, but it is highly recommended. If you don't tip, please don't say your from the JC forums, makes the rest of us look bad lol.

How much really depends on what they're doing for you. If they're getting you anything out of the ordinary, $75 per bottle is usually a solid number.

You can tip them when they greet you at the door, or after you've been seated. The key is to be discreet, i.e. fold the bills and give them to them when you shake hands.

The tip isn't mandatory, but highly recommended, especially if you want good service and plan to use the same host in the future. They're much more likely to remember you and take care of you if you take good care of them. The same thing really applies to anyone in the service industry in Vegas. Money talks and ensures you receive the best service possible.

If you are tipping for a better location; why would you tip after they show you to your table?

Well a lot of times you cover what you're looking for up front (want a dance floor table, want a table by this or by that) and sometimes they'll tell you what it would take to get there beforehand.

So before or after is less of any issue if you trust the host. But I like after because you can always get to the table and ask if there's any others available in case you're not quite content with the table they showed you.

Take a look around the forums for suggestions on where to go. It's commonly talked about.
