Tell me about it, I'm doing bottle service in a few weeks with a big group and price is definitely a big thing. It can definite not help when persuading the more budget minded individuals

Haven't been to Vegas in over a year, so this is new to me or maybe I never noticed. So the LET is in addition to the usual 20% gratuity and 8% tax?

Doesn't make it invalid...either way, marquee is charging it since they tend to have some sort of named DJ each night. Whether you can really call a DJ famous or not "live entertainment" is up to debate and you know which side marquee's on for that.

Looking at our bill from Marquee they don't specifically mention it as being a separate tax, just that we paid $594 tax, which doing the math is 18%, so 8% sales tax and 10% LET.

Correct. LET has been around for a while now (since 2004). Clubs were generally pretty slick with this in how they billed the customer, and most incorporated it into the tax line on the bill without a special set-off. Some just outright failed to charge it. Pre-recession, when everyone was balling out of control, nobody really paid attention to it.

Now, however, it's much more common for people to scrutinize their bill, and lo and behold it's come to public attention. I put this in another thread, but I'll put it here as well. Easiest way to figure out your bill is:

- With LET: Subtotal x 1.381
- Without LET: Subtotal x 1.281

20% automatic gratuity, 10% LET, and 8.1% sales tax. YMMV with some very limited clubs that don't auto grat at 20%, but off the top of my head I can't think of any that don't charge 20%.

Table minimums do not include taxes and automatic gratuity, so you can basically figure table minimum x 1.381 or 1.281 depending on the entertainment for the night. Anyway, remember to add in all the "extras" into your bill to get your budget for the night.
