Sit down, kids, this is gonna be a long one.
So we’ve all be home for about a week and I’ve had a little bit of time to process all of this, I really wanted to get this right. This is kind of an annual tradition with me, but it needs to be said, and I want to do it right. On behalf of my portion of the mAnitObaD contingent, I want to express our sincerest gratitude for what was easily the best time I have ever spent in Vegas...bar none!! This was my boy John’s first ever trip to Vegas and I think we’ve terminally spoiled him. No matter, since I’m pretty sure I won’t be winning an Oscar anytime soon, I’m gonna get all my thank you’s out to all of you right here right now. Here goes.
First and foremost, to Jack Colton for putting all this together. You have done yeoman’s work and I really didn’t think last year could be topped. Every event was memorable and I don’t think any of us can thank you enough for making this happen. You’ve created a monster, good sir, a multi-headed, alcohol fuelled Vegas wrecking monster. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!!
Chappy, the General, the man with the plan...was an absolute pleasure hanging with you last week. I still don’t know how you can actually live out there and, well, survive, but it was an honour and a privilege.
Nicole and Aria...my girls. I don’t think I could love you both any more than I already do...it’s simply amazing that I can come down here and hang with you like I’ve known you since birth. How 3 geographically separated people can almost be on the same wavelength is kinda scary...and kinda good all at the same time. Can’t wait to see you all again.
Peter, I can’t throw enough superlatives out for putting the Marquee Saturday night together. If you ever need a liver, well, that’s probably not the best organ in my stock, but that was my best night ever in Vegas and you’re responsible. Kudos to you.
My Alaskan squad, Forrest, Ginger, Kristina, and Jonathon...I guess us cold-weather people gravitate to one another for a reason. It was fantastic spending time with you guys, and Kristina, do I have to apologize to your grandma?
Warren...if there is photographic definition in the Urban Dictionary for “do the damn thing”, I think our pictures would appear. From the first night at the Crazy Horse, to the diffused clusterfuck at XS, business was taken care of. Always good to see you, brother.
Benny Lava and Aaron...well, if I’d actually seen the lot of you this paragraph might be longer. As I told Aaron earlier, next year, we’re wrapping him in bubble wrap before taking him to Tao. And Benny, remember our talk at the strip club...think it worked for you after scoping your trip report.
A.A.O.D aka Team AlOhaD, Hung, Toan, Mike etc...meeting you guys was like tagging up with my old high school crew. And special props to Hung for getting Nicole back to the hotel Monday night...good on ya, man. You all are a great squad...much respect.
Morgan and Andrea - you two are fantastic...sorry we couldn't aid Morgan in his vomiting expedition...better luck next time.
Rene and Ashley - always great to see you guys again...I'll try to get to Fargo as soon as my house is done its urban renewal!
Ricky and Ata...I almost hate to say this, but you were the only two who’s safety I feared for this trip. No sleep, limited food and an amount of alcohol that could drown a Kennedy is a dangerous mix, but you impressed me with your survival skills. Guess I gotta step my game up. Glad to know you both...on to the next one.
Mi familia San Diego...Raul and Cisco...always fun, limited as it was, brothers.
Paul and Javey...team Ireland...a blast meeting you guys. Hope we gave you guys a great experience.
Matt (just to keep it in the Commonwealth)...a true gentleman...well, we managed to make that shit show at XS work on Monday, now didn’t we? A honour and a pleasure meeting you, my friend.
Phoenix and Ashley...what more needs to be said? Fantastic meeting you both.
Tonya Anne, Tami, Shane, Will, Nassau, Chillin, Nina, Nikki, Kevin, Chris Gary, Andrew (sorry I called you IRock that last night...shit got twisted)...you guys made it a great experience for me and it was good seeing you all. Peace.
To the new members of mAnitObaD: Nicole and Corye...I actually met Nicole a couple of months before this thing started and she was on the fence about coming. I told her these were some of the best people you would have the pleasure of meeting and you won’t do Vegas the same way again. Sweetie, you’re welcome. Corye, brother, great having you out...the Manitoba contingent is pretty strong, and next year it will be even stronger. You’ve all been warned.
Now I know I’ve missed a few of you, and it’s not intentional (hell, it took me almost this entire week to get all the names straight!!). I may sound like a broken record, but this thing we have here is one big family. You don’t find this in a lot of places, especially on the internet, but this is one of the best groups you could hope to be affiliated with and I consider it an honour to have had this short time with you. If it gets any bigger, we may need a bigger town to hold it in!! Once again, on behalf of my boys, I can’t thank you all enough.
Until the next one,
Much love,
Duane
