How long/when does a 'super club' become a normal club?

Just wondering as the last time i was in LV i went to Pure (i know it was in 2006) but it was the best club i've been in and to be honest it still is, i probably don't go to many nightclubs as i used to and i''ve been to quite a few good ones, especially in ibiza but i loved Pure as it was a cool club where the decor was chic and it had a chilled out vibe and the crowd at the time was great, but it now seems that there are better clubs out there.

Everything in Vegas is hot one minute, and cold the next. As far as the hot Tier 1 clubs, i would say they usually make a run as the "it" club for about 4 or 5 years or so, until something bigger and better comes along, and one always does. Right now the "it" or "Super" clubs are Marquee at the Cosmopolitan and XS at the Encore. XS I believe is 2 years old now, but eventually some major casino will build a new club that will take over as the next "it" club

I think the viability is tied directly to its casino/ hotels longevity.

You could make a case that the "center" of the strip nightlife, for lack of a better term, is turning out to be the (XS, Tryst) and (Tao, Marquee) area. Those clubs are all within walking distance of each other (one of the many reasons the Palazzo is my first choice for a room)

I don't think its a coincidence that this area is full of new and well run hotels and casinos. The Wynn, Cos, Palaz, Venetian, even Ceasars....that whole area...you get a different vibe from these places as opposed to the gimmicky casino's.

I would not be surprised if they make a substantially larger profit. My LVS stocked kicked azz for me last year, so I know its more than just a wild freaking guess.

Look at Wynn's older hotels; Mirage has a club (JET) that continues to offer something. I still have fun at that club even after all this time....and it's partialy due to good managment, which always goes hand in hand with a club's success.

The Venetian is not new anymore but it doesn't feel dated. I still enjoy staying there, the women still enjoy shopping there.. so I don't think it's a coincidence that the clubs/ day clubs (Tao, Tao beach, Lavo) are a cut above as well.

Now take the Rio....it used to be the "crazy' hotel, the lone ranger that was away from the strip and yet the center of the party...it use to be the second cousin to the playboy mansion...but the Palms came in and has absolutely ruined that whole "only casino off the strip" idea, not to mention it has killed it in terms of marketing and amenities. Palms has better clubs, pools, a younger crowd.... and so the Rio has taken a major dive and so has its nightlife.

Look at all the gimmicky casino's (Excal, Lux, Ny NY ect)... they don't last and their nightlife followed suit.

The only hotel I can think of that defies this rule is Mandalay Bay (it is built for luxury and attracting professional guests, rather than tourists)

I enjoy staying there aside from it being so far off from all the action.

Anyway, I don't think it's a coincidence that all the well managed and service oriented hotels (Cesar, Ven, Palz, Wynn...ect) also have a killer nightlife......

I mean, isn't it reasonable to assume that if you had a positive experience with your hotel, you are going to give it's nightclubs?

Plus girls don't like walking far in high heels.

Never underestimate how much of your planning/evening rides on the durability of a woman's feet.
